About The Position

The Workforce Education Outreach Coordinator serves as a key ambassador for Workforce Education programs, increasing awareness, access, and enrollment opportunities for prospective and current students. This position develops and implements outreach, recruitment, and engagement strategies that connect diverse populations with educational pathways, workforce training, financial assistance programs, and support services. The Outreach Coordinator builds and maintains strong partnerships with community organizations, workforce development agencies, employers, schools, and campus stakeholders to expand program visibility and create pathways to student success. Working collaboratively with campus and community partners, the Outreach Coordinator helps advance the college's mission of expanding educational access, economic mobility, and workforce opportunities for students and communities. This position reports to the Director of Workforce Education. ABOUT THE COLLEGE: Green River College's student body is made up of approximately 41% Academic Transfer students, 34% Professional-Technical students, 15% Adult Basic Education student, and 3% Applied Bachelor degrees. Green River College has four campuses, including the main campus in Auburn, Washington, with satellite campuses in Kent, downtown Auburn, and Enumclaw. Green River programs serve high school graduates, Running Start students (dual enrollment in local high schools and the college), those seeking retraining for the workforce, international students, students learning English, and Continuing Education students. Green River's service areas are increasingly ethnically diverse, comprising African Americans, African immigrants, Asian Americans, Asians, Latinx, Native Americans, Pacific Islanders, and Middle Eastern Americans, among other communities. Requirements

Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of experience in human services, workforce development, student services, and recruitment, or a related field; OR an Associate's degree and three (3) years of related experience
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with diverse students, colleagues, employers, and community partners
Experience developing and maintaining collaborative partnerships with employers, educational institutions, workforce agencies, and other external partners
Strong presentation, public speaking, and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences in a professional manner
Ability to work independently and collaboratively, exercise sound judgment, and demonstrate initiative in a fast-paced and evolving environment
Understanding of the barriers and challenges faced by historically underserved and marginalized populations, including individuals experiencing poverty, housing insecurity, unemployment, displacement, disability, veteran status, refugee or immigrant status, and justice impacted
Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, coordinate events and projects, maintain accurate records, and meet deadlines with a high level of attention to detail
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, databases, social media platforms, and other communication and outreach technologies
Experience planning, coordinating, and implementing outreach, recruitment, community engagement, or public facing events and activities

Responsibilities

Provide excellent customer service and information about Workforce Education programs and services to community members, employers, and partner organizations
Develop and implement outreach, recruitment, and engagement strategies that increase awareness of Workforce Education opportunities among diverse student populations and community partners
Collaborate with external organizations to plan, promote, and participate in recruitment events, community outreach activities, and student engagement initiatives
Partner with College Relations to develop and implement annual marketing, communication, and recruitment plans
Create and distribute outreach materials, marketing content, and program information through a variety of communication channels to increase program visibility and engagement
Identify and implement innovative and culturally responsive recruitment strategies that effectively engage underserved and historically marginalized populations
Represent Green River College and Workforce Education programs at community events, workforce development meetings, employer forums, career fairs, school visits, and partner organization activities
Facilitate classroom presentations, orientations, workshops, and individual appointments that connect prospective and current students with Workforce Education opportunities and resources
Utilize labor market information, community needs assessments, and enrollment data to inform outreach activities and recruitment priorities
Maintain accurate records of outreach activities, community partnerships, referrals, event participation, recruitment efforts, and enrollment outcomes
Track and report outreach, recruitment, enrollment, and retention metrics to evaluate program effectiveness and support continuous improvement efforts
Participate in workforce development, community partner, Employment Security, and WARN meetings to stay informed of regional workforce trends, layoffs, labor market conditions, and employment opportunities
Demonstrate multicultural competence (including an awareness and understanding of historically minoritized populations) and maintain an educational and work environment that affirms commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion
Identify and address barriers to success, and connect students with resources and support services that promote persistence, completion, and achievement of educational and career goals that lead to gainful employment outcomes
Provide culturally responsive guidance to new/prospective, current and returning students by providing them with information regarding Workforce Education eligibility, admission process, registration procedures, financial aid, academic and professional/technical programs within the college
Promote student participation in campus activities, workforce development opportunities, career exploration events, and support programs that enhance academic, personal, and professional success
Conduct proactive outreach to students who may be at risk of disengagement and connect them with appropriate resources, services, and support programs
Collaborate with campus departments and community partners to identify student needs, improve engagement efforts, and strengthen pathways to student success
Maintain accurate records of outreach efforts, student contacts, referrals, and engagement outcomes to support continuous improvement and program effectiveness
Provide exceptional customer service and responsive support to prospective and current students, community members, and campus partners through virtual, phone, email, and in-person interactions, utilizing an equity-minded approach that promotes access, inclusion, and student success
Coordinate outreach and recruitment activities that increase awareness of Workforce Education programs, services, and funding opportunities among diverse student populations and community partners
Develop, maintain, and strengthen collaborative partnerships with campus departments, community-based organizations, workforce development agencies, employers, and educational partners to expand program visibility and referral networks
Serve as a Workforce Education ambassador by representing the college at outreach events, community meetings, career fairs, information sessions, and workforce development activities
Support the planning, coordination, and implementation of student engagement initiatives, workshops, orientations, resource fairs, and special events that promote enrollment and student success
Maintain current knowledge of Workforce Education programs, workforce development trends, labor market information, funding opportunities, and community resources to support strategic outreach and recruitment efforts
Track and maintain accurate records of outreach activities, community partnerships, referrals, recruitment efforts, and enrollment outcomes to support program evaluation and continuous improvement
Participate in professional development, workforce development meetings, and community partnership activities to enhance knowledge, strengthen community connections, and support student success
Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Workforce Education
