About The Position

Goodwill Industries of Northern Wisconsin and Upper Michigan is seeking a Full-Time Workforce Development Training Specialist to join our team in Houghton, MI. This role is responsible for the delivery and oversight of client programming, determining suitable training/employment based on client needs and abilities, promoting job openings, placing qualified applicants, and coaching/training individuals with disabilities in various work settings.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent required
At least one year of experience in a human service program required
Must have a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance

Organizational skills as needed to develop the framework and implement the start up of community-based work sites.

Responsibilities

Establish and develop contacts with local businesses/service organizations to promote and develop job openings, communicating incentives for employers and services for the client.
Obtain referrals.
Assist clients in placement efforts, including skill building, application completion, interview skills, job retention skills, safe work habits, and promoting awareness of appropriate work attire and hygiene.
Create accurate and timely case files in MITC, including case notes, intakes, annual reports, six-month reviews, and/or AbilityOne documentation, and report to funders.
Handle incident reporting within the caseload.
Assist in obtaining assessment information and conducting intake interviews to determine suitable training/employment based on clients' desires, aptitudes, and limitations.
Supervise and coordinate program clients.
Facilitate and develop community-based worksites.
Teach WFD approved training modules.
Market, coordinate, and supervise vocational training programs.
Track clients' hours.
Maintain appropriate records throughout job development consistent with monitoring clients' rehabilitation goals.
Maintain open communication with funders.
Coordinate and monitor ongoing operations at community worksites.
Facilitate movement of clients into competitive employment upon completion of vocational training.
Promote appropriate personal work ethics, attire, and hygiene when working with clients, local businesses/service organizations, and referring agencies.
Oversee job coaching clients in community-based sites.
Assist in job modifications for clients as necessary.
Communicate with employers regarding work performed.
Maintain a clean work area.
Implement safety practices.
Aid customers in maintaining government benefits during employment.
Function as an effective team member.
