About The Position

The Workforce Development Instructor delivers workforce readiness and skills training to adult participants in Goodwill Career Centers, store-based settings, and external facilities. The Instructor teaches from curriculum provided through the Training Manager and approved online sources, adapts delivery to meet the needs of adult learners, and supports participants from enrollment through training completion and into their job search. The Instructor is expected to continually develop their skill as a teacher of adults.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalency required.
Two to three years of experience in instruction, training, adult education, or workforce services.
Maintain valid MS Driver License.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking and group facilitation.
Ability to learn, demonstrate, and train individuals with varying abilities on a wide range of topics.
Working understanding of adult learning principles, or willingness to develop it.
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with participants from diverse backgrounds.
Ability to work independently across multiple locations and communicate with supervisor as needed.
Strong organizational skills and attention to accurate documentation.

Demonstrates discretion and confidentiality in all participant matters.
Fosters a safe work environment and adheres to all CARF and OSHA requirements.
Working knowledge of computers, including the Microsoft Office Suite, and comfort learning new software systems.
Promotes and demonstrates ethical practices in all activities, including network security.
Availability for occasional evening or weekend events.
Ability to pass alcohol/drug screenings, criminal background check and any insurance driving record check, including any additional clearance required for access to correctional facilities.

Bachelor's degree preferred.
An equivalent combination of education and related experience may be substituted in lieu of education.

Responsibilities

Delivers workforce readiness, digital skills, and customer service training, including credentialed programs, using approved curriculum and materials.
Adapts instructional delivery to meet the needs of adult learners with varying abilities, backgrounds, and barriers to employment.
Takes responsibility for ongoing growth as an instructor of adults. This includes participating in professional development, observing and applying effective adult learning practices, and incorporating feedback from the Training Manager and supervisor.
Provides feedback to the Training Manager on how curriculum is working and what participants need. Changes to curriculum content are made through the Training Manager.
Provides training at external facilities, including correctional facilities, recovery centers, and reentry homes, as scheduled.
Staffs Career Center hours at the assigned location. Assists participants with job search activities, including online job boards, applications, resumes, and interview preparation.
Supports employer spotlights and other activities hosted at Career Centers.
Assists with Job Extravaganzas as they occur.
In coordination with the Director of Community & Employer Engagement, helps connect participants to employment opportunities.
Enrolls participants and maintains accurate records of attendance, services, and outcomes in the department's case management system.
Identifies participant barriers and refers participants to appropriate community resources.
Promotes training offerings to the public and to partner organizations.
