Workforce Continuing Education (WCE) is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Workforce Continuing Education Program Coordinator. Key Responsibilities Include: Workforce Development: Coordinating occupational training in advanced manufacturing, skilled trades, and employability skills. Community Enrichment: Managing a diverse array of personal interest courses, including creative arts and wellness. Strategic Alignment: Ensuring all offerings reflect the college’s mission and serve the specific economic and cultural goals of our service area: Lee, Chatham, and Harnett counties. The position reports to the Director of WCE and has supervisory responsibility for one full-time WCE staff position. This position has a primary emphasis on the coordination and development of construction and manufacturing programs. This position may have occasional travel between campuses and for training. Occasional after hours may be required.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in education, business administration, public administration, human services, or a related field.
  • Two (2) years of experience in program coordination, project management, or community engagement.
  • Positive attitude and a strong commitment to student success and community equity.
  • Strong program management, organization, conflict resolution, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles, instructional planning, and teaching methods; skill in utilizing program assessment instruments.
  • Ability to develop clear educational goals, structured program objectives, and an effective learning environment.
  • Ability to inspire, engage, and collaborate with a diverse community of learners, instructional staff, and corporate partners.
  • Proficient computer skills, including experience with databases and administrative software.
  • Valid NC Driver's License

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in adult education, business, public administration, or a closely related field.
  • Professional experience working and/or teaching in a community college setting, specifically within Career and Technical Education (CTE) or Workforce Development and Continuing Education (WCE).
  • Proven experience managing grant-funded programs or specialized community outreach initiatives.
  • Proficiency using classroom technology, instructional media, and learning management systems (LMS).
  • Advanced proficiency with Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 applications.
  • Bi-lingual fluency (English/Spanish).

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and evaluate non-credit courses in areas such as skilled trades, advanced manufacturing, business, information technologies, Human Resources Development, personal enrichment and community service.
  • Conduct needs assessments to identify community and industry training requirements and needs to keep current course offerings relevant and in compliance.
  • Develop new community service and short-term career/occupational course offerings based on student interests, community demand, and emerging workforce needs.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team and utilize social media, print materials, events, and community partnerships to promote programs and increase enrollment.
  • Track enrollment trends and adjust program offerings dynamically to meet demand.
  • Recruit, onboard, supervise, and evaluate adjunct instructors.
  • Ensure instructors have the necessary resources and support for effective course delivery.
  • Collaborate in course design and development with course instructors.
  • Conduct regular check-ins and meetings with instructional staff to provide guidance, ensure instructional quality, and foster alignment with program goals and student success initiatives.
  • Manage course documentation, including course proposals and outlines, instructional contracts, payroll, and rosters.
  • Ensure strict compliance with institutional policies, state procedures, and legal guidelines.
  • Facilitate ongoing communication between instructional staff and administrative teams to ensure smooth operations, accurate reporting, and timely resolution of issues.
  • Participate in reviewing and documenting divisional policies, procedures, and processes; provide feedback and recommendations for updates or improvements.
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with local businesses, industries, and community organizations.
  • Participate in community and networking events to promote WCE programs and gather public feedback.
  • Collaborate with internal departments and external partners to facilitate summer enrichment opportunities and career pathway exposures.
  • Engage with instructors, students, and community stakeholders to identify emerging needs for new or expanded course offerings.
  • Track, aggregate, and evaluate enrollment trends and program outcomes.
  • Analyze program data and generate reports to recommend strategic improvements and support divisional planning.
  • Ensure compliance by accurately maintaining and submitting required state reporting for specific programs (e.g., Human resources Development, Department of Motor Vehicles).
  • Encourage a learning environment where everyone is supported and valued for their unique perspectives and experiences and will foster and promote the participation of all members of our diverse communities.
