About The Position

Aecon Industrial is seeking an experienced Workface Planner – Piping to support execution of field construction through the development and management of Installation Work Packages (IWPs) in alignment with Advanced Work Packaging (AWP) principles. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring piping scopes are construction-ready, fully integrated with schedule, materials, and field constraints, and executed in a safe and efficient manner. This role will work in a combination of office and field environments.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in industrial construction planning, with strong exposure to piping installation & constraint management.
  • Experience on large-scale industrial projects (oil & gas, mining, or petrochemical).
  • Strong understanding of Piping systems and installation practices.
  • Strong understanding of Isometric drawings, project specifications and P&IDs.
  • Strong understanding of Welding, testing, and turnover process.
  • Familiarity with work package development, construction sequencing, critical path & field workflows.
  • Experience with Primvera P6, Bluebeam Revu, Digital WorkPacks/WFP tools, Excel-based trackers and planning tools.
  • Ability to work within Digital CDE/document control systems.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to interpret complex technical information into executable work plans.
  • Effective communication with field and engineering teams.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop piping Installation Work Packages (IWPs) aligned with best practices.
  • Sequence work based on: construction priorities, P6 schedule alignment, system/area breakdown structures.
  • Define task-level execution steps, crew requirements, and installation logic.
  • Identify, track, and mitigate constraints including: Engineering (IFC drawings, isometrics), Materials (spools, valves, specialty items), Scaffolding, equipment, access, permits.
  • Ensure all IWPs are constraint-free prior to release.
  • Review and interpret: piping isometrics, P&IDs, layout drawings.
  • Validate: work scopes, installation sequencing, tie-ins, weld counts, and system boundaries.
  • Interface with procurement and warehousing teams to: confirm material availability, align IWP release with material status.
  • Support development of: bills of materials (BOMs), field material take-offs.
  • Align IWPs with: Primavera P6 schedule, Path of Construction (POC).
  • Support lookahead planning (3-week/6-week windows).
  • Work closely with: Superintendents, General Foremen, Field Coordinators.
  • Provide clarity on: work packages, execution sequencing, productivity assumptions.
  • Track: IWP release vs plan, constraint resolution timelines.
  • Support lessons learned and continuous improvement of WFP processes.
