About The Position

Support and protect our workforce by managing workers’ compensation claims from initial reporting through resolution. As a Workers’ Compensation Specialist, you will investigate claims, partner with employees and key stakeholders, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive timely, cost-effective outcomes. This role plays a key part in reducing risk, promoting employee well-being, and supporting a strong culture of safety across the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university is desired - or college coursework in workers’ compensation or insurance.
  • 3-5 years of experience managing workers’ compensation claims.
  • Authorized to work in the United States
  • Ability to travel once a month.

Responsibilities

  • Review, examine, investigate, and analyze workers’ compensation claims.
  • Interact with injured employees to ensure awareness and understanding of the workers’ compensation process, requirements, and entitlements.
  • Prepare and issue notices in accordance with mandated requirements and regularly review and stay abreast of applicable laws that may impact how claims are processed.
  • Recommend claim reserve levels by estimating the cost of each assigned claim; monitor reserves and update amounts as necessary.
  • Monitor medical treatment for injured employees and provide information to treating physicians regarding employees’ medical history, health issues, and job requirements.
  • Identify subrogation potential and pursue the process of reimbursement.
  • Serve as a liaison between medical providers, employees, and legal professionals, and coordinate work restrictions with field operations.
  • Communicate with defense attorneys regarding litigated cases; make recommendations regarding proposed strategies for claim resolution.
  • Prepare legal documents for submission to the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board, attend Board hearings, and respond to requests for clarification, as necessary.
  • Coordinate with field operations when conducting root cause investigations.
  • Attend and participate in safety meetings.
  • Stay abreast of new trends, pending legislation, and case law related to workers’ compensation.
  • Perform related duties as required.
