About The Position

The Workers' Compensation Tech provides technical and administrative support in the area of Workers' Compensation in the Human Resources Department, primarily reviewing and entering work-related accidents/injuries into databases for timely and accurate reporting. This position will also provide backup support for the Workers' Compensation Injury Counselor.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or GED equivalent.
  • 2 or more years of experience in Workers’ Compensation.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with web-based database and reporting systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors Degree in related field of study from an accredited college or university.
  • 2 or more years of clinical, professional experience.
  • Experience with online work comp related data base(s) and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Receives and maintains employee injury reports; reviews employee injury reports and follows up on missing information that is required for accurate reporting
  • Documents work comp claims in the claims management system for uploading to Third Party Administrator’s database and for First Report of Injury to the state
  • Maintains the work comp claims management system for tracking open claims and related activities
  • May assist with data report preparation and delivery (i.e. face-to-face presentation and electronic transmission) to Workers’ Compensation internal and third-party team members as well as other Health System committees, departments, regulatory bodies, and other entities as requested by the Director or their designee.
  • Provides back up to the Workers’ Compensation Injury Counselor
  • Assists Workers’ Compensation Injury Counselor in coordinating with the Third-Party Administrator to ensure that protocols are followed and injuries are reported within the required timeframe
  • Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.
