About The Position

MGC is seeking an experienced Workers' Compensation Paralegal to join their team in Charleston, SC. The ideal candidate will be professional, motivated, organized, and possess exceptional oral and written communication skills. Prior law firm or insurance experience is beneficial but not necessary. This position offers flexibility for a hybrid/remote work arrangement after training and requires the ability to work well in a fast-paced environment. MGC is an industry-leading civil litigation firm with 22 offices across 12 states.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of worker's compensation paralegal experience
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Professional demeanor with excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities efficiently
  • Proficiency with case management systems and Microsoft Office applications
  • Mindset geared toward embracing AI to innovate and elevate everyday legal work

Nice To Haves

  • Prior law firm or insurance experience
  • Four-year degree and/or certificate from an ABA-approved paralegal program

Responsibilities

  • Open and close files; organize and maintain physical and electronic case files
  • Set up new files, including entering case information into ProLaw and preparing file materials
  • Review incoming mail and file materials for deadlines, extensions, and immediate action items
  • Communicate with clients regarding missing documents and case updates
  • Prepare file summaries, benefit calculators, and medical summaries
  • Draft Requests for Mediation and Petitions for Benefit Determination
  • Prepare initial drafts of written discovery and discovery responses for attorney review
  • Coordinate document production and request medical, personnel, FOIA, and project records
  • Review document productions and prepare summaries as needed
  • Assist attorneys in preparing for depositions, mediations, hearings, and trials
  • Prepare settlement documents and coordinate approval hearings as needed
  • Ensure settlements are finalized in compliance with applicable Bureau or Court rules
  • Docket hearing notices, deadlines, and attorney tasks accurately in ProLaw
  • Coordinate IMEs and follow up on medical record requests
  • Review bills and prepare acknowledgment letters to clients, insureds, and commissions
  • Meet monthly billing expectations
  • Work collaboratively with attorneys and staff while contributing positively to a team environment
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
