About The Position

The Workers' Compensation Liaison at OrthoArkansas serves as the primary point of coordination for workers' compensation patients, insurance adjusters, nurse case managers, employers, and providers. This position plays a critical role in ensuring injured workers receive timely and appropriate care by coordinating appointments, obtaining authorizations, facilitating communication between all parties, and managing required documentation. The Workers' Compensation Liaison helps streamline the workers' compensation process while supporting exceptional patient care and positive outcomes.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases and priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective interaction with patients, providers, insurance representatives, and employers.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate documentation.
  • Ability to navigate complex workers' compensation processes and insurance requirements.
  • Professional problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
  • Basic Word Processing/Typing skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Specialized training or experience in healthcare administration, medical office operations, insurance coordination, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience working with workers' compensation claims, insurance authorizations, scheduling, or case management preferred.
  • Experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR), scheduling software, and insurance authorization platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain necessary records, referrals, and documentation required to schedule workers' compensation patients.
  • Coordinate communication between adjusters, nurse case managers, employers, physicians, and clinic staff.
  • Assist workers' compensation patients with information needed to facilitate timely treatment and follow-up care.
  • Serve as a resource for providers and staff regarding workers' compensation processes and requirements.
  • Schedule and reschedule workers' compensation appointments, ensuring timely access to care.
  • Obtain pre-certification and authorization approvals for imaging studies, procedures, surgeries, and other services as required by individual carriers.
  • Monitor authorization status and follow up with insurance carriers to prevent delays in treatment.
  • Coordinate appointment logistics with adjusters, nurse case managers, and patients.
  • Provide office notes, medical records, operative reports, and other documentation to nurse case managers, adjusters, and authorized parties.
  • Obtain and organize all necessary documentation for depositions, Independent Medical Evaluations (IMEs), second opinion visits, and physician form completion.
  • Ensure accurate and timely recordkeeping related to workers' compensation cases and communications.
  • Maintain confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA and organizational policies.
  • Organize, invoice, and collect payments for depositions, IMEs, form completion requests, and second opinion visits.
  • Track and manage workers' compensation-related billing activities to ensure timely reimbursement.
  • Assist with reporting and documentation related to workers' compensation services.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with nurse case managers, adjusters, employers, and insurance representatives.
  • Promote OrthoArkansas' Workers' Compensation Program through site visits, conferences, educational events, and lunch-and-learn opportunities.
  • Educate physicians and staff regarding workers' compensation procedures, requirements, and best practices.
  • Support ongoing efforts to enhance the workers' compensation program and improve service delivery.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support clinic operations and workers' compensation services.
