About The Position

The Department of Labor & Industry is searching for a Workers' Compensation Compliance Investigator to join the Bureau of Workers Compensation Directors Office. This role allows you to use investigative skills while guiding the public through their responsibilities under the law. Your work will support fair outcomes, reduce disputes, and strengthen trust in the workers compensation system. As a Workers' Compensation Compliance Investigator, you will be supporting statewide efforts to ensure that employers, insurers, and medical providers follow the Pennsylvania Workers Compensation Act. This role uses investigative work, communication skills, and legal knowledge to help resolve concerns and promote compliance. You will also testify as a witness for the Commonwealth in the prosecution of noncompliant employers in formal judicial proceedings.

Requirements

  • Four years of clerical work in the review, research, and presentation of records, correspondence, and documents, including two years of public contact experience; or An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes two years of public contact experience.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
  • Meet the PA residency requirement.
  • Be able to perform essential job functions.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate reports of noncompliance with the Workers Compensation Act and related regulations
  • Inform the public and employers about their responsibilities through clear verbal and written communication
  • Gather records, interview workers, and prepare case summaries for possible prosecution under Section 305
  • Conduct evaluations of employer worksites to determine compliance and guide them in understanding legal requirements
  • Examine allegations of workers compensation fraud and provide findings to appropriate insurance carriers
  • Review and process applications for exemption under religious or executive officer provisions and maintain accurate records
