About The Position

The Workers Compensation Staff Attorney II provides legal defense to policyholders and supports NJM’s Workers Compensation Claims Department. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Protect the interest of NJM policyholders in litigated workers’ compensation matters through the point of settlement or decision Work with staff in the preparation of pleadings, motions, briefs and other documents Provide case status updates, recommendations, and legal guidance to policyholders and Workers’ Compensation Claims staff Build and maintain relationships with internal and external customers Work collaboratively with other enterprise stakeholders in the defense of Workers’ Compensation claims Handle complex litigation and develop litigation strategies in collaboration with policyholders Perform other duties as assigned Required Qualifications: Workers Compensation experience, including multiple jurisdictions Juris Doctor degree License to practice law in the state of New Jersey Critical thinking skills and attention to detail Ability to work independently Strong negotiation, communication and writing skills Ability to problem-solve and make decisions Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines Strong relationship-building skills and a commitment to customer service Computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Outlook Compensation: Salary is commensurate with experience and credentials. Pay Range: $113,565-$143,013 Eligible full-time employees receive a competitive Total Rewards package, including but not limited to a 401(k) with employer match up to 8% and additional service-based contributions, Health, Dental, and Vision insurance, Life and Disability coverage, generous PTO, Paid Sick Leave, and paid parental leave in addition to state-mandated leave. Requirements

  • Workers Compensation experience, including multiple jurisdictions
  • Juris Doctor degree
  • License to practice law in the state of New Jersey
  • Critical thinking skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong negotiation, communication and writing skills
  • Ability to problem-solve and make decisions
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
