About The Position

Join Ashley Furniture as a Workers' Compensation Claims Administrator and play a vital role in protecting our company and supporting our injured employees. In this position, you'll minimize financial loss from workers' compensation claims while ensuring injured workers receive appropriate care and timely benefits. You'll manage the full claims lifecycle with a focus on efficiency, accuracy, and compassion.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Human Resources, Medical field, or equivalent experience
  • 4+ years in Human Resources, Medical, or Insurance-related roles
  • Knowledge of Workers' compensation laws, insurance claims processing, and HIPAA regulations
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Word and Excel)
  • Experience with document management systems and databases
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality

Responsibilities

  • Report and track all workers' compensation claims through insurance company systems
  • Investigate claims to determine time loss vs. wage loss classification
  • Manage claim files and communicate updates to employees, supervisors, HR, and medical providers
  • Monitor cases to ensure proper reserving, documentation, and aggressive resolution timelines
  • Research billing and payment issues between employees, medical facilities, and insurance carriers
  • Coordinate transitional duty assignments for recovering employees
  • Maintain attendance records for medical appointments and excused absences
  • Answer employee questions about benefits, claim status, and workers' compensation processes
  • Process status changes for employees on leave or reduced wages
  • Display empathy and professionalism when supporting injured workers
  • Partner with Health, Security & Safety to investigate potential safety violations
  • Collaborate on subrogation recovery opportunities
  • Ensure compliance with workers' compensation laws, HIPAA regulations, and medical release procedures
  • Process incoming mail, verify claim information, and maintain organized documentation
  • Generate weekly and quarterly reports
  • Maintain document management systems (scanning, databases, filing)
  • Provide administrative support including copying, scanning, and shredding
  • Participate in departmental meetings and assist with training team members
