Workday Payroll, Time & Absence Functional Lead
About The Position
We are seeking a Workday Payroll, Time & Absence Functional Lead to support a multi-year ERP harmonization initiative within the energy sector. This role will serve as the primary functional subject matter expert for Workday Payroll, Time Tracking, and Absence, helping align the organization’s existing Workday environment with a new financial ERP platform. This is a remote consulting opportunity for an experienced Workday professional who can lead functional design, configuration assessment, testing, deployment, and stabilization activities. The selected consultant will partner closely with HRIS, Payroll, Finance, Benefits, business stakeholders, Digital teams, integration resources, and implementation partners throughout the project lifecycle. Per contract requirements, candidates must be U.S. Citizens or Green Card Holders.
Requirements
- 8+ years of Workday functional experience with expertise in Payroll, Time Tracking, and Absence.
- Experience leading requirements, design, testing, deployment, and stabilization for large ERP or transformation programs.
- Strong knowledge of payroll processes, integrations, and upstream and downstream system impacts.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills across business and technical teams.
- Candidates must be U.S. Citizens or Green Card Holders.
Nice To Haves
- Workday Payroll experience involving acquisitions, consolidations, or migrations into an existing tenant.
- Knowledge of unionized workforces, complex pay practices, or Canadian payroll requirements.
- Experience in the energy, utilities, manufacturing, or industrial sector.
Responsibilities
- Lead the Workday Payroll, Time Tracking, and Absence workstream for the ERP harmonization program.
- Guide requirements, future-state design, configuration, and best-practice decisions.
- Lead testing, payroll validation, defect resolution, and stakeholder sign-off.
- Coordinate integrations and dependencies across HR, Payroll, Finance, Benefits, Digital, and implementation teams.
- Support cutover, hypercare, stabilization, documentation, and knowledge transfer.
