About The Position

TJFACT is seeking an experienced and well-versed Work Life Skills Specialist to support Joint Base Charleston (JBC) by providing family life skills and education programs for military personnel and families, Department of Defense (DoD) civilians, retirees and family members, and reserve components located at Joint Base Charleston, SC. Family Life Skills Education services require daily operation onsite at Joint Base Charleston.

Requirements

  • US Citizen
  • Bachelor's degree in Social Science or any related behavioral science field from an accredited college, a combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor's which equips them to serve will be considered.
  • Prior experience delivering briefs and presentations.
  • Be able to interact tactfully with a wide range of military and civilian installation personnel while ensuring customer-service based tasks are executed using professional and effective communication skills.
  • Develop materials to promote progress toward objectives/outcomes, including project planning documents and support for resolving planning issues.
  • Be able to pass a government background check.
  • Familiarity with adding TEAMS to presentation platform.
  • Must be proficient or have working knowledge in the following areas: Presentation platforms (i.e. Zoom), MS Office suite, Marketing platforms (i.e. CANVA), Event Coordination, Public Speaking, Video Conferencing, Budget Forecasting

Responsibilities

  • Provide life skills education (either one-on-one or in single or multi-session classes/workshops) in eight core content areas including: communication, relationships, parenting, personal growth and development, work/life deployment/family readiness, new spouse orientations, and Key Spouse/Ombudsman Training. Other life skills workshops may be required due to changing situations.
  • Develop an extensive variety of class materials to include briefings, brochures, flyers, etc. for customers to enhance the learning experience and will keep material updated.
  • Coordinate with other support programs such as Chaplains, Child and Youth, Family Advocacy Program and Drug and Alcohol programs to ensure consistency in delivery of life skills programs and services.
  • Assist in all advertising and marketing for the Military and Family Readiness Center (M&FRC).
  • Assist with coordinating, publicizing, facilitating, and hosting a wide variety of single or multi-session employment readiness classes/workshops (e.g., effective job search, interviewing and resume writing, etc.) to all military and family members.
  • Provide individualized skills assessment, career counseling and coaching to those seeking employment assistance.
  • Organize, promote and/or support area job fairs and employment expositions with local, state and/or Federal agencies.
  • Develop an extensive variety of class materials to include briefings, brochures, flyers, etc. for customers to enhance the learning experience and will keep material updated.
  • Assist as program support staff as directed by the center Chief for Transition Assistance, Personal Financial Readiness, Relocation Assistance.
