We are seeking a motivated and experienced Life Skills Specialist to join our inpatient team. In this role, you will provide direct client care, help maintain a safe and structured therapeutic environment, and lead life skills and recovery-based programming. This position is ideal for someone passionate about supporting individuals in recovery, mentoring staff, and contributing to a strong team culture.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- 2+ years of experience in behavioral health, substance use treatment, or related field
- Strong understanding of substance use disorders and mental health treatment
- Familiarity with HIPAA, licensing, and CARF standards
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team-based, fast-paced environment
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Ability to remain calm, professional, and responsive in crisis situations
- Ability to be flexible, dependable, and committed to ongoing learning and development
- Candidates selected for hire must successfully pass a criminal background check, drug screening, and any required state‑mandated clearances. Employment is contingent upon meeting all screening requirements in accordance with federal, state, and accrediting‑body regulations.

Responsibilities
- Provide daily supervision, support, and engagement for adults in treatment
- Monitor client behavior and ensure safety and well-being
- Foster a structured, recovery-oriented therapeutic milieu
- Facilitate and co-lead educational and recovery-focused groups, including: Coping skills, Relapse prevention, Daily living and life skills
- Teach and reinforce recovery principles, including 12-Step concepts (AA/NA)
- Encourage client participation in programming and activities
- Observe, document, and report client behaviors and progress
- Communicate effectively with clinical staff, families, and external partners
- Support the implementation of individualized treatment plans
- Provide orientation to new clients on: Program expectations, Facility structure, Available resources
- Assist with client transportation to appointments or approved outings
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation
- Support a clean, safe, and therapeutic physical environment
- Complete administrative and clerical duties as needed
- Attend required trainings, meetings, and professional development
- Maintain confidentiality (HIPAA compliance) at all times
- Follow all program, safety, and infection control policies
- Demonstrate professionalism in all interactions
- Respond calmly and effectively in crisis situations
