About The Position

Los Alamos National Laboratory's TA-55 facility is one of the most technically demanding nuclear environments in the country - and work control planning is what keeps it running safely. As a Work Control Planner 2, you'll develop and coordinate the detailed work packages that enable engineers, maintenance personnel, and operations teams to execute complex facility activities with precision and compliance. Your work directly supports the PF-4 glovebox installation and ongoing facility operations, contributing to national security at the highest level.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, technical, or related discipline
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in work planning, maintenance planning, operations planning, or similar technical roles
  • Experience developing technical work packages, procedures, and planning documentation
  • Ability to work in high-hazard or highly regulated environments (DOE, nuclear, defense, or industrial)
  • Strong written communication skills with ability to create clear technical instructions
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance
  • U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain a DOE Q Clearance
  • Minimum 5 years of work planning or maintenance planning experience
  • Ability to work onsite 100% at TA-55 in Los Alamos, NM
  • Willingness to support rotating shift coverage including nights and weekends

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience supporting DOE or NNSA facilities, particularly nuclear or radiological operations
  • Familiarity with MWP, Primavera P6, or Asset Suite systems
  • Experience supporting work control, maintenance planning, or facility operations in complex technical environments
  • PPA certification (Policy Procedure Writer) is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Develop and review detailed work packages including labor, materials, time estimates, and safety requirements
  • Write clear step-by-step work instructions and procedures for operations, maintenance, and facility modification activities
  • Coordinate planning activities related to mechanical, electrical, chemical, or radiological systems within the facility
  • Identify and resolve work constraints, ensuring packages are complete and ready for execution
  • Support operations in a high-hazard nuclear environment in compliance with LANL and DOE safety standards
  • Collaborate with engineers, maintenance personnel, safety professionals, and project managers
  • Ensure work control documentation supports safe, efficient, and compliant execution of all facility activities
