Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field.
  • At least 12 years of relevant field experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Unique knowledge of and broad experience with unique and/or complex work control, materials management, and/or mechanical maintenance.
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of work hazards, safety practices, operating configuration, and lock-out/tag-out policies and procedures in unique and/or complex facilities.
  • In-depth understanding and ability to interpret various unique and/or complex mechanical and electrical documents, blueprints, drawings, and schematics.
  • Ability to fully utilize and manipulate a computerized work management system in maintaining and tracking work-planning activities.
  • Extensive experience and demonstrated skill in conducting research, investigating alternative solutions, and recommending solution on unique and/or complex problems affecting work control and planning.
  • Ability to fully conceptualize and communicate major elements of work control and planning for unique and/or complex activities, both technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Demonstrated exceptional skill in the preparation and presentation of work control reports.
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of the Laboratory's work control and facility policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of legal requirements and environmental impacts affecting work control and planning.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Due to federal contract security requirements, this position requires U.S. Citizenship.
  • Due to federal contract security requirements, candidates must be able to successfully pass a federal background investigation to secure and maintain DOE Q security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and/or reviews work packages including time, material, and labor estimates, written step-by-step work instructions, procedures, and/or safety and testing requirements for the implementation and control of operations, maintenance, or modification of work activities within a given facility or area.
  • Serve as the primary contact on electrical safety and administer the LANL Electrical Safety Program.
  • Assure safety and security compliance, maintain required safety and security training, and make safety and security an integral part of every task, including taking the necessary steps to stop work if continuing the job is unsafe or compromises security.
  • Prepare, review, and issue equipment and/or system modification, corrective maintenance, and/or preventative maintenance work packages for unique and/or complex activities in unique and/or complex facilities in accordance with applicable procedures and regulations.
  • Analyze time and material requirements for unique and/or complex work activities.
  • Prepare detailed specifications for materials and labor estimates for unique and/or complex activities.
  • Take the lead in developing step-by-step instructions for work for unique and/or complex activities.
  • Manage and expedite established priority of work packages.
  • Prepare and/or review efficient and specific instructions for the isolation, containment or de-energization of various unique and/or complex mechanical, physical, electrical, chemical and/or radiological systems according to established procedures and regulations.
  • Manage various functional and administrative activities in conjunction with the primary work control/work package development including, but not limited to, permit development, testing requirements, documentation generation, records management, database information management, retrieval and review, and/or training.
  • Understand and adhere to all Laboratory and industry regulatory guidance and governance specific to work control and planning.
  • Ensure all work control results, materials, processes, and final products meet quality specifications and are completed according to established requirements.
