About The Position

This position is for a Work Center Supervisor within the VX23 - F18 Avionics program at the Naval Test Wing Atlantic (NTWL) in Patuxent River, MD. The supervisor will coordinate and oversee the activities of personnel, ensuring work is performed safely and efficiently according to naval aviation maintenance instructions. This role involves managing personnel, identifying material and tooling needs, providing training, and ensuring compliance with special programs and technical publications.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of Safe working techniques and procedures.
  • Ability to plan and schedule maintenance work requirements.
  • Requires working technical knowledge of aircraft, machinery, facilities and equipment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude in order to offer technical direction in all maintenance areas.
  • Understand technical language terms in associated field.
  • Ability to interact effectively with personnel at all organizational levels.
  • Ability to use a computer.
  • Must have full knowledge of Navy 4790.2 series and the RDT&E community.
  • Knowledge of military publications, drawings, blueprints, microfilm, diagrams and schematics is mandatory.
  • Knowledge of military and/or company forms required by work requirements.
  • Working knowledge of safety rules, regulations and procedures.
  • Possess a valid US State driver's license.
  • Ability to read and interpret data is required.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Ability to obtain a Government flight line driver’s license.
  • Ability to obtain a secret security clearance.
  • Six (6) years’ experience in the aircraft maintenance environment.
  • Completion of specialized courses in aircraft structural repair is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s Degree or trade license preferred.
  • A&P License/FAA Certification desirable but not required

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and supervises activities of personnel, determining and directing specific work assignments.
  • Assists in the operations of the maintenance departments per the CNAFINST 4790.2 series.
  • Ensures full and effective employment of assigned personnel.
  • Ensures all work is scheduled and performed in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Responsible for compliance of special programs as assigned. Ensures direct reports are fully compliant with all approved procedures.
  • Ensures all direct reports and maintenance employees receive job and safety training.
  • Identifies material and special tooling needs to accomplish the daily work assignment.
  • Provides employees with proper training on Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Provide technical training and assistance as needed.
  • May lead and direct a group of two or more individuals.
  • Comply with all current sections of COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790.2 series applicable to aircraft maintenance and ALSS.
  • Working knowledge of technical publications, NAMP and NALCOMIS aircraft maintenance applications.
  • Perform other job related duties as may be assigned.
