About The Position

This position involves coordinating and supervising the activities of personnel in an aircraft maintenance environment. The supervisor will be responsible for determining and directing specific work assignments, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the maintenance department, and managing the employment of assigned personnel. The role also includes ensuring compliance with special programs, approved procedures, and providing necessary job and safety training to direct reports and other maintenance employees. The supervisor will identify material and special tooling needs, provide training on Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and offer technical assistance as required. This role may lead a group of two or more individuals and requires adherence to specific Navy directives and NAMP/NALCOMIS applications.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of technical publications, NAMP and NALCOMIS aircraft maintenance applications.
  • Knowledge of Safe working techniques and procedures.
  • Ability to plan and schedule maintenance work requirements.
  • Requires working technical knowledge of aircraft, machinery, facilities and equipment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude in order to offer technical direction in all maintenance areas.
  • Understand technical language terms in associated field.
  • Ability to interact effectively with personnel at all organizational levels.
  • Ability to use a computer.
  • Must have full knowledge of Navy 4790.2 series and the RDT&E community
  • Knowledge of military publications, drawings, blueprints, microfilm, diagrams and schematics is mandatory.
  • Knowledge of military and/or company forms required by work requirements.
  • Working knowledge of safety rules, regulations and procedures.
  • Possess a valid US State driver's license.
  • Ability to read and interpret data is required.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Ability to obtain a Government flight line driver’s license.
  • Ability to obtain a secret security clearance.
  • High School degree or equivalent required.
  • Six (6) years’ experience in the aircraft maintenance environment.
  • Completion of specialized courses in aircraft structural repair is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s Degree or trade license preferred.
  • A&P License/FAA Certification desirable but not required

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and supervises activities of personnel, determining and directing specific work assignments.
  • Assists in the operations of the maintenance departments per the CNAFINST 4790.2 series.
  • Ensures full and effective employment of assigned personnel.
  • Ensures all work is scheduled and performed in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Responsible for compliance of special programs as assigned.
  • Ensures direct reports are fully compliant with all approved procedures.
  • Ensures all direct reports and maintenance employees receive job and safety training.
  • Identifies material and special tooling needs to accomplish the daily work assignment.
  • Provides employees with proper training on Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Provide technical training and assistance as needed.
  • May lead and direct a group of two or more individuals.
  • Comply with all current sections of COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790.2 series applicable to aircraft maintenance and ALSS.
  • Perform other job related duties as may be assigned.
