About The Position

This position performs clerical assignments in a Parole/Probation Office where production typing, organizing files, operating computer equipment, and statistical data is a substantial part of the work. In addition, transcribing reports from mechanical dictating equipment and perform receptionist duties as needed. This position must be occupied by a self-motivated individual who can work independently and maintain effective office procedures as it pertains to the clients and general public. This position will be located at Lincoln Park Parole 920 Fort Lincoln Park, MI 48146.

Requirements

  • Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school.
  • Word Processing Assistant 5: No specific type or amount is required.
  • Word Processing Assistant 6: One year of administrative support experience where use of a personal computer to prepare correspondence, reports, charts, etc., or to enter/retrieve/update information is an essential part of the work.
  • Word Processing Assistant E7: Two years of administrative support experience, including one year equivalent to a 6-level administrative support classification, where use of a personal computer to prepare correspondence, reports, charts, etc., or to enter/retrieve/update information is an essential part of the work.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Must maintain effective office procedures.
  • Applicants will need to provide proof of passing a typing test at the interview.
  • Applicants who have been convicted of a misdemeanor or felony are ineligible for employment with the Department of Corrections until satisfactory completion of any sentence imposed, including parole or probation.
