About The Position

Ability to accurately, effectively, and safely operate wood cutting/forming machines or tools.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of basic math including fractions
  • Skill in manipulating and interpreting a tape measure.
  • Skill in reading and interpreting floor plans, blueprints, and assembly instructions.
  • Skill in using small hand and power tools.
  • Ability to comprehend and follow work instructions, company policies, and safety policies
  • Ability to evaluate and resolve problems.
  • Ability to communicate with others in a professional and productive manner.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to grasp and manipulate small parts and hand tools
  • Ability to plan and anticipate issues with production
  • Must have the ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to properly utilize provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including eye protection, hearing protection, half-face and/or Powered Air Purifying Respirators, protective clothing, and fall restraint harnesses.
  • Ability to work 40 hours per week and be available for overtime when necessary.
  • Available for training in various duties.
  • Consistently/Frequently - see (vision), hear, ability to read and write, ability to interpret information, basic math, reading, and writing in English.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check and drug screen.

Responsibilities

  • Meets all production and quality standards as required by Supervisor/Team Lead
  • Detects and reports material defects and sizing in the lumber used
  • Keeps all machines properly maintained and oiled
  • Reads and interprets shop drawings and floor plans
  • May be required to train new personnel
  • Verifies all parts received against bill of material on the manufacturing order.
  • Selects the correct material to be ripped, milled, or notched as required by floor plan, shop drawings, or B.O.M
  • Checks each item off the Bill of Material as it is cut.
  • After completing the cut/notch operation, pile the finished product on a cart in an efficient manner so that the next workstation can do the work efficiently.
  • Marks each piece of wood with the size and job number.
  • Assembles frames on nailing tables according to the prints for walk-in manufacturing.
  • Uses small hand tools and power tools.
  • Complies with all company policies and safety regulations.
  • May be required to work elsewhere depending on production needs
  • Accurately reads a tape measure and square
  • Responsible for housekeeping around his/her general area.
