About The Position

Supports the delivery of the professional nursing agenda to include practice and service developments in line with the Nursing Strategic Plan. Ensures that nursing practice continually improves and impacts positively on patient outcomes. Areas of concentration to include but not limited to HCAHP areas related to nursing practice, nursing sensitive indicators and patient safety.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
  • Current, valid Arizona RN license
  • Current BLS & ACLS certification from American Heart Association
  • Four years of clinical experience to include labor and delivery, post-partum and level 1 nursery.
  • Two years of increasing responsibility such as managerial, project direction and development, and/or implementation of projects and goals.

Nice To Haves

  • Nursing Certifications preferred including, OB inpatient, and/or lactation counselor/consultant.

Responsibilities

  • Organize, plan, direct, and evaluate staff development.
  • Assists with the monitoring of the Perinatal Trust data as compared with the state reported birth records. Reporting discrepancies to the director.
  • Support/assist the Director in the planning and management of projects and implementation of change through the department.
  • Assess current nursing infrastructure intra and inter-departmentally and identify potential enhancements that will result in improved patient satisfaction and clinical care.
  • Optimize patient care by working with and mentoring nursing staff.
  • Bring forth and implement current evidence-based practice.
  • Create processes for educating patients and families on how to best manage their conditions.
  • Incorporate practice to promote staff teamwork.
  • Direct interaction with patients, families and groups of patients to promote health or wellbeing and optimize quality of life.
  • Utilize the change process to provide stability and openly re-evaluate decisions in light of new data, conditions or situations and develop alliances that extend beyond the sphere of nursing. Assuring that Electronic Medical Record changes instituted are implemented in Women’s Services as appropriate.
  • Monitor and evaluate systematically the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice and clinical programs in Women’s Services.
  • Evaluate clinical performance based on professional practice standards, regulatory standards, and organizational criteria identifying areas of strength, as well as areas for practice/professional development.
  • Develop key quality indicators in collaboration with Quality Management and the Perinatal Care Committee to monitor clinical processes and facilitate continuous quality improvement for nurse sensitive indicators.
