About The Position

The Registered Nurses in the Urogynecology Department is responsible for applying evidence-based nursing practice in the care of patients with pelvic floor disorders and urogynecologic conditions. This role integrates clinical expertise, patient education, research, and interdisciplinary collaboration to provide comprehensive, patient-centered care. Assessment and data collection are used to establish priorities, coordinate care, and develop individualized treatment plans in accordance with patient needs, departmental goals, and organizational objectives. The nurse is accountable for the quality, safety, and continuity of care provided and serves as a resource for patients, families, and members of the healthcare team.

Requirements

2 Year / associate degree from an accredited school of nursing
4 Year / bachelor's degree BSN required for candidates with fewer then 5 years of registered nursing experience
Current Montana state license as a Registered Nurse

Certification in an area related to women’s health care preferred or ability to become certified within two (2) years of employment is strongly encouraged

Responsibilities

Utilizing a holistic approach incorporates the nursing process into the plan of care for the patient. The plan of care should include physical, psychosocial, environmental, self-care, educational, and discharge planning.
Plans, organizes, implements, evaluates and documents patient-centered urogynecology nursing care by promoting a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, families, significant others, and care providers. Provides care for patients with pelvic floor disorders and urogynecologic conditions through assessment, education, care coordination, procedure support and evaluation of outcomes. Care is consistent with Billings Clinic values/goals and Billings Clinic organizational and departmental policies and procedures.
Supports and assists with specialized urogynecologic procedures and services as appropriate, including urodynamic testing, catheter management, bladder instillations, post-void residual assessments, pessary management and surgical care coordination
Maintains competency in all organizational, departmental and outside agency environmental, employee or patient safety standards relevant to job performance. Identifies and anticipates problems and safety issues and initiates appropriate corrective action.
Maintains appropriate theoretical and clinical skills with application and patient relevance of commonly utilized equipment specific to the department and other areas as appropriate; pharmacologic therapies; diagnostic testing; laboratory values; and radiologic findings as they relate to pelvic floor disorders, urogynecologic conditions and surgical care. pharmacological application; application of laboratory values and radiologic findings with disease process or physiological status
Utilizes performance improvement principles to assess and improve the quality of patient care. Evaluates current nursing practices within the department to identify opportunities for modification that would enhance professional practice, maintain or improve patient care while remaining fiscally sound.
Identifies needs and sets goals for own growth and development; meets all mandatory organizational and departmental requirements. Maintains proficiency and knowledge within a rapidly changing environment.
