About The Position

Reporting to the Nurse Manager, the Women’s Health Registered Nurse works collaboratively as a member of the patient care team to provide consistent, high quality, evidence-based care to patients within the health center. The RN is accountable to perform in accordance with the standards set by the American Nurses Association, Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing, and the health center’s policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Valid RN license in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Must be proficient and have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.).

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years experience in Adult and/or Pediatric acute care medical/surgical setting
  • Minimum of one year Ambulatory Care experience
  • Bilingual Candidates are highly encouraged to apply
  • BSN preferred

Responsibilities

  • Complies with all DotHouse Health policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborates effectively with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care, referrals, durable medical equipment (DME) orders, care management, and hospital follow-up.
  • Directs and delegates clinical tasks to Medical Assistants and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) in accordance with scope of practice.
  • Participates in the orientation and training of new nursing staff and peers as needed.
  • Reviews, interprets, and communicates test results in accordance with nursing protocols and provider direction.
  • Completes accurate, timely, and thorough documentation in the electronic health record.
  • Performs patient triage, including telephone and in-person assessments, and conducts new obstetric (OB) intake visits.
  • Conducts nurse visits in accordance with approved nursing standing orders, protocols, and organizational policies.
  • Provides comprehensive patient education and counseling regarding chronic disease management, medication adherence, reproductive health, family planning, pregnancy, and postpartum care.
  • Administers medications, immunizations, and treatments as ordered or permitted under standing orders.
  • Performs Charge Nurse responsibilities, including coordinating patient flow and supporting daily clinical operations.
  • Recognizes and responds appropriately to urgent and emergent patient care situations.
  • Assists with and performs clinical procedures within scope of practice.
  • Manages clinical communications from internal and external stakeholders, including patients, pharmacies, specialists, hospitals, and community agencies.
  • Attends departmental and organizational meetings and actively participates in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
  • Delivers safe, ethical, evidence-based, patient-centered, and culturally responsive nursing care.
  • Floats to other nursing departments and clinical areas as operational needs require.
