About The Position

Carilion Clinic is seeking a dedicated Nurse Practitioner to join our Women’s Health team, specializing in Obstetrics and Gynecology. As part of a physician-led, mission-driven healthcare system, you’ll deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while working in a collaborative and supportive environment. This position offers a consistent Monday–Thursday schedule (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM), promoting a strong work-life balance. The role includes rotating between our Blacksburg and Christiansburg locations, serving a diverse patient population across the New River Valley.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing and Nurse Practitioner Program or Accredited Physician Assistant Program.
  • Minimum of three 3 years of clinical experience preferred.
  • License or license eligible as an Advance Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant) as set forth by the state of Virginia.
  • If Nurse Practitioner, license to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia is required.
  • Eligible for prescriptive authority in accordance with State regulations and as authorized by the Virginia Boards of Nursing and Medicine.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
  • Current PALS/NPR, as required, specific to position.
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) as required, specific to position.
  • Must demonstrate and maintain all credentialing and licensing requirements of Carilion Clinic, the Virginia Board of Medicine or the Virginia Board of Nursing, and appropriate certifying bodies.
  • Capable of meeting credentialing or job function requirements as needed based on the requirements of the practice and of managed care payors and insurers.
  • Qualifies for malpractice insurance and is accepted by Carilion Clinic’s malpractice insurance carrier.
  • Able to work collaboratively with physicians and other health care providers.
  • Demonstrates good written and oral communication skills.
  • Computer literacy required for automated computer systems, including electronic medical records.

Nice To Haves

  • Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP) certification is preferred.
  • Additional experience may be required for some specialties.
