About The Position

Under the direction of the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Administrative Services Coordinator, this position provides direction and supervision to administrative support staff. It collaborates with all disciplines and administration to assure effectiveness and efficiency in the provision of services in a culturally competent and customer-friendly environment. The role supervises and instructs WIC team members, ensuring client information is entered into the SC-WIC system per program guidelines. It also maintains audits, training records, and the Employee Performance Management System (EPMS) for individual staff, providing and documenting feedback and appraisals. The position involves providing culturally competent customer service, greeting and conducting interviews with public health clients in accordance with WIC program and agency policies. Responsibilities include answering telephones, scheduling appointments, processing information, completing medical records, and entering all client information into applicable electronic applications or the SC-WIC system. The role ensures staff compliance with program and agency guidelines for the issuance of e-WIC cards and Farmer's Market benefits, adhering to customer service and cultural competency guidelines, and ensuring staff follows WIC Program customer service complaint procedures. The position requires attending relevant program and agency training and meetings, ensuring necessary materials and resources are available for administrative staff, and preparing and submitting required reports. Other duties as assigned are also part of this role.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma and work experience that is directly related to the area of employment.
  • A bachelor's degree may be substituted for the related work experience.
  • Institutions of Higher Learning must be recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.
  • Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered in meeting the minimum qualifications, subject to approval by the SCDPH Chief Human Resources Officer, or their delegate.

Nice To Haves

  • High School diploma/GED & two (2) years clerical office experience; or an associate's degree in Secretarial Science or related field & one (1) year clerical office experience.
  • Experience providing administrative support/customer service in an office environment.
  • One (1) year experience providing WIC administrative support.

Responsibilities
