About The Position

We are seeking a dedicated Women’s Worker to provide assertive outreach, supporting women experiencing homelessness to access vital services and improve their life opportunities. This role offers the chance to make a tangible difference across health, wellbeing, safety, and reducing offending behaviours. You will play a key part in facilitating access to both pharmacological and psycho-social interventions for those facing substance misuse challenges, whilst working within a multi-disciplinary team and alongside a range of partners to deliver holistic, life-changing support.

Requirements

  • Have a strong understanding of substance misuse issues and experience of working within a similar field
  • Experience of working with groups/pods and managing group dynamics, such as conflict or challenging behaviour.
  • Be an excellent communicator, both verbal and written with good IT skills.
  • Proactive and able to work on own initiative with excellent time management and prioritising skills
  • Have a good working knowledge of mental health interventions, services, and good practice
  • Experience of communicating effectively with hostel staff, health and social care staff and those individuals who are homeless, sleeping rough or sofa surfing
  • The ability to work remotely and autonomously.
  • The experience of engaging with a wide variety of individuals with a variety of backgrounds and needs.
  • The ability to work with and manage challenging behavior.
  • Knowledge of local geographical area - Coventry
  • Knowledge of local services including mutual aid networks.
  • Work with agencies and individuals outside of the normal geographical area covered
  • Access to a car and clean driving licence.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting service users from point of entry into the service and through their treatment/recovery journey
  • Providing screening, assessment, and recovery planning and onward referral
  • Reducing drug and alcohol related harm to service users and the wider community
  • Promoting carer, service user and community involvement
  • Providing advocacy for access to partnership services
  • To support women to engage with substance misuse services
  • Assist in co-ordinating access to substance misuse interventions for women as part of a wider multi-disciplinary team
  • To signpost or refer women with mental health, offending behaviours, domestic abuse, sexual violence, in the sex industry and or who have been trafficked to the appropriate services.
  • Participate in assertive outreach to support women who are sex working on the street and engaged in night time economy.
  • To represent CGL in appropriate forums and networks, both locally and nationally, relating to women only services and facilities
  • To contribute to the implementation and promotion of the service and champion women only issues
  • To be part of a high performing team that achieves targets as set across a range to key deliverables
  • Be on a rota for early morning and late night outreach to engage individuals successful into treatment.
  • Working across key partner agency locations to ensure barriers to accessing treatment are reduced.
