Emory Healthcare is seeking a RN Clinician with a strong background in wound, ostomy, and continence (W.O.C) care. This role supports a strong, unified WOC team that partners collaboratively with departments to ensure high-quality, patient-centered outcomes. The RN Clinician will be an integral member of interprofessional teams across hospital and clinic settings, committed to delivering outstanding patient care. This position directs agency-wide initiatives for pressure ulcer prevention, wound care and ostomy care, including supporting pressure ulcer prevalence data collection, evidence-based policies, procedures, and protocols, and advising on appropriate support surfaces, products, and staff decision-making algorithms. The role also involves developing and conducting educational programs and clinical instruction for Emory Healthcare staff and students enrolled in Emory University's Wound Ostomy Continence Education Program. Additionally, the RN Clinician provides advanced clinical guidance to physicians and nursing staff regarding the management of complex wounds, fistulas, moisture management, and pressure ulcers, and determines appropriate nursing interventions for identified patient problems, symptoms, and teaching needs in respect to wound and ostomy care. The role also recommends necessary equipment, materials, and resources, performs pre-operative stoma site marking and ostomy education, and develops post-operative ostomy education and care plans for patients and families. The position requires a minimum of two years of nursing experience, a BSN (or completion of RN-MSN), MSN, DNP program, and specialty certification. The nurse will demonstrate expertise in chosen scholarly activities focused on the advancement or promotion of the profession, role model dependable, effective, and efficient care, and demonstrate expert assessment skills. This role involves monitoring adherence to documentation standards, providing feedback to staff, and implementing changes to the documentation process. The nurse will establish, promote, and evaluate standardized plans of care using evidence-based research, stay informed of innovative clinical trends, and collaborate to develop standardized teaching materials. The position requires adherence to policies and procedures, identification and initiation of educational programs, and dissemination of current evidence-based practice. The nurse will question clinical practice related to research, role model and educate others utilizing the Synergy model for patient care, and role model delegation skills. The nurse will assume a leadership and resource role with the interdisciplinary team, orient staff or students as assigned, evaluate resource use and cost containment, and lead team behavior while fostering leadership skills in others. Effective communication, conflict resolution, and the ability to build and maintain an environment of open communication are essential. The role requires taking appropriate action to correct unacceptable practice and developing staff competencies. The nurse will intuitively use self in the therapeutic relationship, respect others' values, suspend judgment, plan constructive interventions based on patient values, and effectively elicit and integrate cultural beliefs into patient management. Patient satisfaction feedback will be used in designing patient care delivery, and the nurse will assist colleagues in resolving issues and facilitate escalation if necessary. Identifying and addressing the needs of long-term or extended stay patients to improve satisfaction, monitoring issues and their resolution, and respecting confidential information are also key responsibilities. Employees must meet all Clinical Nurse I Employee Commitments and achieve electives and contact hours as defined in the PLAN (clinical lattice) system to maintain their position.
