WMS Solution Architect

Main Line Talent Group•Cumming, GA

About The Position

The Senior Solution Architect owns the design of North American implementations for an established software company serving mid-market manufacturers and distributors. The configurable platform covers warehouse management, manufacturing execution, and transportation. The role focuses on new implementations and larger-scope changes; smaller enhancements and day-to-day support are generally handled by other team members, although the architect contributes to first-line support as part of the wider delivery group. The architect works directly with clients in plants and warehouses to understand operations, lead discovery, and write detailed business requirements specifications for the system configuration team. Designs use shared global standards and templates, and must be clear enough for a configuration team in another time zone to implement. The architect presents designs for approval, reviews completed builds against specifications, leads client training and user acceptance testing, supports go-live on site, and transitions clients to support. The role reports to the regional Head of Delivery and includes coaching US-based business systems colleagues as they develop design responsibilities.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years designing and implementing operational software in manufacturing, warehouse, or distribution settings, with personal ownership of requirements and design.
  • Proven experience writing functional specifications or requirements that others have successfully built from.
  • Experience working directly with plant and operations leaders, leading workshops, and handling difficult scope discussions.
  • Full lifecycle implementation experience through go-live, including design, validation, training, user acceptance testing, and on-site cutover.
  • Comfort working with a build team in a different country and time zone.
  • Ability to step into full design responsibility without a long ramp-up.
  • Based in the US and able to travel regularly to client sites across North America.
  • Flexibility to occasionally start early, around 7:00 AM ET, to overlap with international colleagues.

Nice To Haves

  • Degree in industrial engineering, information systems, or a related field.
  • Mid-market ERP experience, such as SYSPRO or Acumatica, and an understanding of how shop-floor data moves in and out of ERP.
  • Experience with low-code or configurable platforms rather than custom development.
  • Hands-on work with barcode scanning, RFID, scale integration, or other shop-floor data capture.
  • Experience mentoring junior team members on design approach.

Responsibilities

  • Lead on-site client discovery, including floor walks, process reviews, and workshops.
  • Write detailed, buildable requirements specifications that define what is in and out of scope.
  • Design solutions using standard templates and decide what should be configured, what client processes should change, and what should not be built.
  • Present designs to clients and internal leadership for approval before configuration begins.
  • Review completed builds against specifications before clients see them and resolve gaps with the build team.
  • Train client super users, run user acceptance testing, and manage resulting adjustments.
  • Be on site for go-live and remain until the client is running live production on the system.
  • Transition clients to support with open items documented, escalation paths agreed, and the support team briefed.
  • Coach US-based business systems colleagues on the design method as they take on more design work.
  • Contribute to first-line support as part of the wider delivery group.

Benefits

  • Company-paid medical coverage for employees, with options for family coverage.
  • Employer HSA contributions.
  • 401(k) with company match.

  • Dental and vision plans.
  • Disability and life insurance options.
