Job Highlights Youth Apprentices in our Physical Therapy Aide career pathway help to provide a welcoming environment to patients and assist with the set up and treatment of patients receiving various types of rehabilitative therapies designed to build strength and increase range of motion. You’ll partner with a licensed professional who will serve as your mentor and will help guide your training while providing ongoing support in the role. Job Details Effectively work as part of a team, communicate effectively with close attention to details Maintain academic and attendance requirements for participation in the Youth Apprenticeship Program Participate in progress reviews scheduled with mentors, school staff, parent(s) or guardian(s), and employer Assist with the setup, cleaning, and stocking of treatment areas Under the direction of a licensed professional, and upon completion of training, assist with patient care to include: review of treatment plans, measuring vital signs, and performing range of motion and other prescribed exercises Perform other duties as assigned Education and Experience Requirements High school junior or senior 16 years of age Must be authorized and approved by the Wisconsin Youth Apprentice Program in accordance with your local school criteria Reliable transportation to get to and from work Satisfactory progress towards graduation Commit to completing 450 hours at the jobsite (10-15 hours per week) Demonstrated maturity and responsibility Skill with attending to details, excellent attendance and a strong work ethic Foster a culture of caring through interpersonal relationships and communication About SSM Health SSM Health is a Catholic, not-for-profit health care system serving the health needs of communities across the Midwest in Wisconsin, Illinois, Oklahoma, and Missouri. Job Summary: Cleans and sets up the treatment area, moves patients, and performs administrative duties. Assists licensed staff in training and treatment. Job Responsibilities and Requirements: PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Sets up treatment area. Assists qualified staff with explaining treatment plans to patients. Assists with the following under the supervision of qualified staff: positioning patients, measuring vital signs, applying compression stockings and/or tubi-grips, assisting patients with performing range of motion exercises, gain training, and other aspects of prescribed exercise program. Uses isolation techniques. Cleans and restocks after procedures. Maintains inventory. Respects patient confidentiality and maintains Health Insurance Portability Accountability Act (HIPAA) compliance. Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school junior or senior
  • 16 years of age
  • Must be authorized and approved by the Wisconsin Youth Apprentice Program in accordance with your local school criteria
  • Reliable transportation to get to and from work
  • Satisfactory progress towards graduation
  • Commit to completing 450 hours at the jobsite (10-15 hours per week)
  • Demonstrated maturity and responsibility
  • Skill with attending to details, excellent attendance and a strong work ethic
  • Foster a culture of caring through interpersonal relationships and communication
  • Must be at least 16 years of age prior to start date and current high school student
  • Acceptance into Youth Apprenticeship program through local high school
  • Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA)

Responsibilities
