Requirements

Must have a satisfactory background/MVR check.
Must pass a pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, and/or random drug test.
Strong leadership and team-building skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Knowledge of industry regulations and safety standards.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management tools.
5+ years of experience with wiring work, preferably within the Utility industry.
Detailed knowledge of work being performed in this department.

Responsibilities

Overseeing, coordinating, and optimizing day-to-day field operations for substation wiring teams.
Ensuring work is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with engineering standards, quality requirements, schedules, and budget expectations.
Providing direct leadership to field personnel.
Supporting project execution.
Coordinating resources.
Interfacing with customers.
Playing a key role in training and developing substation wiring talent.
Directly supervises Lead Substation Wiremen, Substation Wiremen, and Apprentices assigned to Protection & Control field activities.
Lead, organize, and direct a high-performing substation wiring services team.
Assign daily and weekly work activities based on project priorities, crew capabilities, and resource availability.
Promote accountability, professionalism, and teamwork across all field crews.
Provide mentorship, training, and performance evaluations for team members.
Enforce company standards, competency programs, and best practices for substation wiring work.
Plan and execute field activities from project mobilization through completion, including scheduling, manpower planning, and material coordination.
Monitor productivity and job progress; proactively resolve field issues and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
Assists resolving issues promptly and implementing process improvements.
Ensure work is completed on time, within scope, and in accordance with customer and contractual requirements.
Ensure all wiring and P&C installations meet engineering drawings, specifications, quality standards, and applicable codes.
Inspect field work for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to procedures.
Assists with the management of the department’s asset needs and conditions.
Manage field labor and resources to support budget, productivity, and profitability goals.
Assist with tracking labor hours, materials usage, and job costs.
Support billing documentation, change orders, and local P&L objectives.
Serve as a point of contact for customers in the field, maintaining strong professional relationships, and addressing concerns as they arise.
Lead by example in promoting a strong safety culture and ensuring compliance with all safety policies and procedures.
May conduct job safety briefings, tailboard meetings, and field safety observations.
Collaborate with Safety and Operations Management to investigate incidents, address hazards, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
Additional responsibilities and tasks as required to support the organization's goals and adapt to evolving business needs.
