Wireless Systems Engineer

Apple•Cupertino, CA

About The Position

As a member of Apple’s Product RF Design team, the Wireless Systems Engineer contributes to the performance of wireless products and helps shape current and future generations of Apple products. The role requires broad knowledge of RF architecture, design, integration, and manufacturing, with deep theoretical and practical expertise in one or more areas such as electromagnetic theory, RF and wireless circuit design, communication theory, and product design trade-offs. The engineer uses electromagnetic and system simulation, hands-on prototyping, and test and measurement to understand system and subsystem interactions, assess product-level design implications, and address manufacturing trade-offs for mass production. The role spans product development from concept and architecture definition through integration, prototyping, and final production. The engineer collaborates with wireless and software architects, industrial designers, product designers, and manufacturing teams to optimize wireless functionality for users and support builds from prototype through mass production.

Requirements

  • BSEE or equivalent education.
  • Coursework or experience in antenna/RF design, wireless communications, electromagnetics, or circuits.
  • Experience in antenna design, including simulation, mockup skills, and architecture investigation.
  • Experience in RF measurement and desense.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience integrating wireless technologies such as cellular, GPS, Wi-Fi, and NFC into products.
  • Experience with RF schematic and PCB layout practices and guidelines.
  • Hands-on experience with RF lab instrumentation.
  • Ability to debug desense issues and characterize noise sources.
  • Experience in a production environment and statistical analysis.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively across cultures and geographical locations.
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to build relationships within and outside the team.

Responsibilities

  • Apply RF and wireless expertise throughout product design, from concept and architecture definition through integration, prototyping, and final production.
  • Use electromagnetic and system simulation, prototyping, testing, and measurement to understand system and subsystem interactions.
  • Evaluate product-level design implications and manufacturing trade-offs to enable mass production.
  • Work with wireless and software architects, industrial designers, and product designers to guide product design and optimize RF/wireless functionality for users.
  • Work with manufacturing teams to support builds from prototype phase through mass production.
