About The Position

Amazon Corporate Network Engineering team owns the design, planning, and delivery of all Amazon corporate office network infrastructure. They are responsible for keeping all Amazon offices connected and work on challenging problems with thousands of variables impacting Amazonian productivity. The team is looking for talented individuals to join a diverse group of software, hardware, and network engineers, security experts, and operations managers. They collaborate across Amazon to ensure the highest standards for safety and security, provide infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost, and foster an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers employees to see them through to completion. The Corporate Network Engineering Organization is seeking a Network Development Engineer for its Core Engineering team. These engineers partner with the broader corporate network Infrastructure organization on configuration standards and tools, and collaborate with Systems and Software Engineers to ensure the smooth rollout of new designs and products, as well as deploy and sustain networking software tools.

Requirements

• 4+ years of major internet routing protocols experience
• 4+ years of working in a Linux/Unix environment experience
• 4+ years’ experience of hands-on technical engineering experience in large scale data center and/or WAN network environments.
• 4+ years’ experience and knowledge of at least one vendor’s Wireless hardware - Access Points, Wireless Controllers, or Wireless client bridge and IEEE .11 standards including .11n, .11ac and .11ax
• 1+ years of experience in automation via Bash/shell scripting and Perl/Python programming.

Nice To Haves

• 1+ years of automation scripting using Python, Bash, Shell and/or Perl experience
• Knowledge of wireless security - .1x, RADIUS, WPA2, EAP-TLS, PSK, general PKI concepts
• Knowledge of RF /Survey, RF Planning and Optimization.
• Experience with 3G/4G/WiMax a plus
• Aruba ACDX or CCIE Wireless a plus

Responsibilities

• Perform high quality network and/or systems operations, deployments, scaling, technology refresh, sustaining engineering, best practices application, optimization, internal/external customer interactions, and produce appropriate technical documentation.
• Design and build innovative, multi-vendor data connectivity solutions to support Amazon’s growth worldwide.
• Drive scaling current network designs to meet the demand of our customers.
• Work with vendors and cross-functional teams for on-going design efforts and systems support.
• Work closely with our internal customers to help alleviate their problems and ensure our network continues to meet their demands.
• Drive operational excellence projects to drive improvements in our network quality and reliability.
• Work closely with our teams to assist in defining the tools we require.
• Create simple processes that help operate and build our network.
• Develop and implement the next gen platforms along with the tooling ecosystems to support these platforms, driving efficiency and scalability through the automation of builds, configuration deployment, and the scaling of capacity.
• Develop solutions to complex challenges faced daily.
• Encourage durable solutions that look around corners while taking into consideration customer needs from a cost, performance, and reliability perspective.
• Develop tooling that provides the required visibility and control of traffic across the network, while prioritizing the automatic mitigation of events to minimize the impact to customers.
• Work in a 24x7 team on call rotation, with ability to drive into workplace for critical events/needs.
• Manage customers during problem resolution and operate efficiently under pressure.
• Sit at the computer during scheduled work hours with appropriate breaks while maintaining a high level of alertness and attention to detail.
