About The Position

SAIC is seeking a Wireless Network Engineer to design, integrate, and support enterprise wireless LAN/WAN over OSP/FTTx networks, engineer and implement GPON solutions (ONT, OLT, WDM) for Marine Corps installations. The candidate will sit at our customer site in Stafford, VA.

Requirements

• Bachelors degree and five (5) years of work experience.
• SME-level experience with Wireless LAN; strong knowledge of up to Wi-Fi 7 and Layer 2/Layer 3.
• Experience with Cisco-based wireless site surveys, network design, and implementation.
• Experience with Wi Fi, WAN/LAN; RF design/optimization and range/propagation testing.
• SIP, IMS, and VoLTE standards.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.

Nice To Haves

• Certifications: Security+, CWNP, CWDP, CWNA, Network+, CySA+, CASP, CCNA.
• Experience with GPON/FTTx design for major providers; network architecture/engineering focused on GPON.
• Knowledge of ITU T G.984.x, Telcordia GR 1275, IEEE 802.2/802.3, and NIST standards.
• Hands-on configuring/installing Cisco switches, routers, and wireless; HP Aruba and Cisco Catalyst experience highly desired.

Responsibilities

• Plan, design, implement, and optimize wireless LAN and related technologies integrated with GPON.
• Develop engineering drawings, test plans/procedures, and cutover/migration documentation.
• Provide operational support for large-scale, high-availability wireless deployments; troubleshoot LAN/WAN/wireless issues.
• Conduct feasibility analyses; execute tests, log defects, verify fixes, and contribute to test strategies.
• Perform site audits; ensure network compatibility and recommend remediation.
• Create functional designs, deployment procedures, and operational processes; lead technical efforts and mentor staff.
