About The Position

The Wireless Solutions Architect II is a senior, client-facing technical leader responsible for defining strategy, designing complex enterprise wireless solutions, and guiding implementation teams to success. This role requires deep expertise in modern WLAN architectures, with a heavy emphasis on Juniper Mist, and strong experience across HPE Aruba and Cisco wireless portfolios. The Architect II will own end-to-end wireless solution design, from discovery and conceptual architecture through detailed design, deployment guidance, and optimization. This individual will serve as a trusted advisor to clients, provide direction to engineering teams, and act as an escalation point for complex wireless performance and reliability issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 7–10+ years of hands-on experience in enterprise wireless networking design, implementation, and troubleshooting.
  • Proven experience leading large or complex WLAN projects and directing teams of engineers.
  • Demonstrated experience as a client-facing architect or senior engineer responsible for solution direction and design approvals.
  • Deep knowledge of 802.11 protocols, RF fundamentals, capacity planning, roaming behavior, QoS, and wireless security (WPA2/3-Enterprise, 802.1X, RADIUS, etc.).
  • Strong, recent hands-on experience with Mist Cloud, APs, and related components (e.g., Marvis, location services, SLEs, AI-driven operations).
  • Experience designing, deploying, and operating Mist-based environments at enterprise scale.
  • Solid experience architecting and troubleshooting wireless solutions across Aruba and Cisco portfolios (e.g., controllers or controllerless, cloud-managed).
  • Familiarity with policy/enforcement platforms (e.g., ClearPass, ISE) and integration into WLAN designs.
  • Expert-level proficiency with Ekahau for predictive design, onsite surveys, and validation surveys.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Hamina for predictive design and modeling.
  • Strong understanding of wired network fundamentals (switching/routing) as they relate to WLAN (PoE, VLANs, QoS, multicast, etc.).
  • Comfort with reading and developing network diagrams and detailed configuration documentation.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to tailor messaging to C-level, technical leadership, and engineering teams.
  • Demonstrated leadership in cross-functional and multi-stakeholder environments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a methodical approach to troubleshooting.
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent engagements and prioritize effectively.

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant industry certifications, such as: Juniper: JNCIP-ENT, JNCIE-ENT, or Mist-specific accreditations.
  • CWNP: CWDP, CWAP, CWSP, CWISA, or CWNE (strong plus).
  • Aruba: ACMP/ACMX.
  • Cisco: CCNP Enterprise (wireless focus) or legacy CCNP Wireless.
  • Experience integrating WLAN with NAC, MDM, and identity platforms.
  • Experience with advanced analytics, AI-driven operations tools, and location-based services.
  • Experience in consulting or professional services environments, including SOW development and project estimation.
  • Experience with scripting and automation to operational and drive efficiencies.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary wireless architecture advisor to enterprise clients, shaping overall WLAN strategy and roadmap.
  • Lead client workshops, assessments, and design sessions to translate business requirements into scalable, secure, and resilient wireless architectures.
  • Present solutions, design decisions, and trade-offs to both technical and executive stakeholders in clear, business-aligned language.
  • Own the end-to-end technical design of wireless solutions, with a focus on Juniper Mist, including RF design and validation for complex office, campus, industrial, and/or retail environments.
  • Architecture for WLAN, LAN/WLAN integration, cloud-managed platforms, and integration with security and identity services.
  • High-availability, redundancy, and scalability planning.
  • Develop high-quality design artifacts: HLDs, LLDs, BOMs, diagrams, configuration standards, and implementation guidelines.
  • Define and enforce wireless design standards, reference architectures, and best practices across projects.
  • Provide technical direction to teams of network and wireless engineers during deployment and optimization phases.
  • Function as a top-tier escalation point for complex wireless issues, driving root cause analysis and permanent corrective actions.
  • Mentor and coach engineers on wireless design concepts, tools, and troubleshooting methodologies.
  • Provide architectural and design peer reviews and serve as oversight for wireless projects.
  • Guide and oversee survey, design, and validation work using Ekahau and Hamina, ensuring alignment with client performance and coverage requirements.
  • Lead complex troubleshooting efforts involving RF interference, capacity issues, roaming problems, client behavior, and application performance.
  • Collaborate with OEM support (Juniper Mist, HPE Aruba, Cisco) on escalations, TAC cases, and advanced feature implementation.
  • Contribute to internal best practices, standards, and reusable design patterns for wireless solutions.
  • Evaluate emerging wireless technologies (e.g., Wi-Fi 6/6E/7, location services, IoT integration, AI-driven operations) and advise clients and internal leadership on their applicability.
  • Support pre-sales and solutioning efforts by providing accurate level-of-effort estimates, scope definitions, and technical input to proposals/SOWs.
