About The Position

The WEX Case Manager is a cross-functional role that primarily supports WIOA OSY participant work experience placements. Additionally, this role supports all UL Impact workforce development programs including SOAR, Building Futures, Urban Tech Collective, and Employment Connections. This position is primarily responsible for activating WIOA WEX placements, providing individual placement specific career coaching to help participants and program graduates secure and maintain sustainable employment. The WEX Case Manager plays a key role in bridging personal interest, skills training and direct placement, offering individualized support and strategic employer engagement that enhances long-term career outcomes. This role also contributes to overall agency employer-facing events, coordinates job placement efforts for active participants, program graduates, and integrates digital tools to equip participants for today’s labor market.

Requirements

  • 2–3 years of experience in workforce development, employment services, case management, or direct job placement.
  • Demonstrated experience working with diverse or underserved populations (e.g., returning citizens, WIOA/TANF participants, young adults, dislocated workers).
  • Ability to coach and motivate participants to achieve employment goals.
  • Strong networking and relationship-building skills with employers and community partners.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Zoom, social media platforms, and other business applications.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure while maintaining high levels of quality.
  • Ability to meet regularly and communicate effectively with employers and clients.
  • Ability to present to clients/employers on job-seeking skills and readiness of program participants.

Responsibilities

  • Manage partnerships with employers across industries to ensure participant readiness, adequate placements, biweekly/monthly WEX participant evaluations and collect participant placement time sheets.
  • Coordinate job leads, career fairs, and mock interviews in collaboration with IMPACT workforce development programs.
  • Identify employers and participant success and support transition from WEX placements to permanent employment opportunities.
  • Provide facilitation and/or support for programming including information sessions, orientations, workshops, graduations and career fairs as needed.
  • Support program facilitation as needed across workforce development programs, including workshops, orientation sessions, and participant engagement activities.
  • Maintain accurate participant records and data logs for case management and grant compliance.
  • Enter coaching-related and progress data into CRMs and databases in a timely and organized manner, as directed.
  • Lead, coordinate, support career fairs and participant engagement events hosted by the various workforce development programs.
  • Represent the Urban League WIOA and Agency offerings at community events, programs, job fairs, and community outreach activities.
  • Foster relationships with existing employment partners and support WEX Coordinator with potential employment partner opportunities to explore.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with WIOA Management and UL Impact staff across programs to ensure coordinated employment participant support.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and cross-functional initiatives related to workforce programming.
