About The Position
WinField United is seeking a Forage Nutrition Insights Intern for Summer 2027 in Indianapolis, IN. This internship offers a hands-on, purpose-driven experience within a Fortune 250 agribusiness leader. The intern will work with SureTech, an agricultural lab, serving as a liaison between the lab and the field. Responsibilities include promoting the value of forage testing, collecting samples, supporting forage management, communicating test results, identifying opportunities for improved forage quality, and demonstrating how analytical insights drive better decisions. This role combines technical learning, customer engagement, and field experience, providing exposure to the entire forage testing process. Interns will receive training and mentorship to develop a strong understanding of forage analysis, laboratory services, and data-driven decision-making in animal production.
Requirements
- Sophomore (preferred) or Junior undergraduate pursuing a bachelor’s degree in animal science, ag business or other related field of study.
- Required GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Ability to work and travel without direct supervision.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to communicate technical information to producers, nutritionists, and sales teams.
- Comfortable interacting with customers in farm, retail, and meeting environments while representing SureTech in a professional manner.
- Ability to build trusted relationships and effectively serve as a liaison between laboratory, technical, and field teams.
- Manage time and effectively prioritize and implement projects and general work tasks.
- Resourceful and innovative in finding solutions to problems.
- Working knowledge of forage production, livestock nutrition, or a willingness to develop expertise in these areas.
Nice To Haves
- Interest in forage production, equine, dairy, beef, or livestock nutrition systems.
- Experience working on farms, in agricultural retail, FFA, 4-H, collegiate agriculture programs, or related internships.
- Public speaking or presentation experience.
- Experience collecting agricultural, forage, soil, feed, or water samples.
- Ability to interpret data and communicate insights that demonstrate the economic value of forage testing to customers.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a key liaison between the laboratory and the field.
- Help producers and nutritionists promote the value of forage testing and how data can be used to improve animal production.
- Travel throughout the region, visiting farms, and interacting directly with customers.
- Collect forage samples and support forage management initiatives.
- Communicate test results.
- Identify opportunities for improved forage quality.
- Demonstrate how analytical insights can drive better feeding and operational decisions.
- Comply with all PPE requirements and safety protocols.
