About The Position

The Wine Specialist plays a crucial role in providing exceptional customer service and fostering a deep knowledge of wines, beer, and spirits. Excellent communication and promoting different wines to our customers are essential to this role. The Wine Specialist works under the supervision of the Wine Manager and performs the following duties (other duties may be as assigned): Provides outstanding customer service by assisting customers with wine, beer, and spirit selection, offering recommendations, and ensuring a memorable shopping experience. Demonstrates a high level of expertise and knowledge in wines, including varietals, regions, production methods, and food pairings. Stays on top of industry trends, new releases, and emerging wine regions to provide up-to-date recommendations to customers. Actively contributes to the creation and development of the weekly newsletter, providing engaging content and highlighting featured wines, beers, and spirits. Mains department standards by organizing and properly displaying products, ensuring accurate pricing and signage, and monitoring inventory levels. Assists in conducting tastings and educational events for customers, including classes and seminars. Acts as a liaison between vendors and the Wine Manager, coordinating product orders, resolving any issues or discrepancies, and providing feedback on customer preferences. Provides support to the Wine Manager in managing inventory, including receiving and stocking products, rotating stock, and conducting regular inventory counts. Keeps abreast of local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to alcohol sales, ensuring compliance at all times. Exhibits exemplary behavior and adherence to company policies and procedures, serving as a role model for other team members.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED); three to six months related experience and /or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Candidates must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must frequently lift and /or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and color vision.
  • Must be able to use a 2-wheeled dolly (hand truck) to carry over 100 pounds at a time.
  • Must also safely use a box cutter with razor blades.
