About The Position

The Department Specialist is responsible for supporting the beer and wine category manager(s). The role is hybrid with 3 days in office and 2 days remote. This role requires heavy use of excel, specifically formulas, tables, and pivot tables, financial acumen, and strong communication skills. The Department Specialist will be involved in logistical planning and tactics to ensure the department meets its goals. This could include tasks like providing store support, analyzing sales data, planning inventory logistics for new and existing stores, assisting with marketing, and product placement strategies.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years’ experience related to Alcohol purchasing, Marketing and/or Merchandising
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and the Internet
• Ability to preserve confidentiality of information, communicate with all levels of management
• Work within strict time frames and deadlines
• Outstanding interpersonal and team-building skills
• Highly effective in cross-functional collaboration
• Lift and carry materials weighing up to 20 pounds

• Bachelor’s degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Responsibilities

• Supporting Category Managers in the development of merchandising plans that drive growth
• Managing samples and setting up new items; assist in coordinating new product rollouts
• Creating and submitting, new item, pricing, discontinuation, and other miscellaneous forms on behalf of the Category Manager
• Approving or rejecting deals in Deal Management on behalf of the Category Manager
• Ad entries and proofing in Retail Studio
• Communicating new stores to distributors, placing purchase orders for new stores, and building new store APLs
• Working with Schematics to collect new store APLs and New Store Planograms
• Coordinating and sourcing vendor participation for new store openings and resets
• Developing and maintaining strong vendor relationships
• Supporting Sprouts stores as a liaison to ensure standards are met by our distributor partners
• Maintaining Distribution alignment, distributor changes, and item validations
• Collecting website and planogram images
• Collecting and submitting forms for new distributor setups
• Demo scheduling on behalf of the Category Manager
• Other duties as assigned
