About The Position

The individuals who perform this job provide extraordinary shopping experiences to our guests and stock merchandise. This role involves maintaining uniform standards, demonstrating superior product knowledge, and engaging with guests to understand and fulfill their needs. The associate will recommend merchandise, answer questions about products, and build client relationships. Responsibilities also include assisting with sales transactions, receiving merchandise, preparing promotional events, and arranging displays to promote sales. Maintaining the sales floor and stock areas, including cleaning and ensuring proper stock rotation and pricing, is crucial. The role requires providing feedback to management on product movement and stock levels, assisting with inventory, and properly using computer and RF scanner equipment. Continuous improvement of skills and knowledge is expected, along with adhering to company policies regarding coworker and cell phone use. The associate must carry out management directives efficiently, with care and attention to detail, practicing teamwork and cooperation. Time management, prioritization, and the ability to manage stress in a fast-paced environment are essential. All work must be done in accordance with safety regulations. This is not a remote sales job.

Requirements

• Must be over the age of 21 to work at Spec's.
• Ability to read, comprehend, and write simple instructions or memos.
• Ability to communicate with and understand coworkers and guests.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in both whole numbers and in fractions and decimals.
• Ability to calculate discounts and percentages.
• Must be responsible, reliable, and committed to providing extraordinary service.
• Patience, friendliness, and an outgoing personality are needed for success.
• Must be a self-starter with a strong work ethic who completes the job assignments in a timely fashion and then looks for the next task.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
• Must maintain a valid TABC Beverage Sellers Permit.
• In some cases, a valid Food Handlers Permit is required.
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds or more occasionally using proper lifting techniques and tools.
• Must be able to push and/or pull 50 to 100 pounds or more regularly.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• Must be dedicated to learning wine and helping our guests with selections.

• Bilingual skills are a plus.
• Experience would be nice but not necessary as we can do training on the job.

Responsibilities

• Know and actively demonstrate, daily, our Company Mission Statement and Core Values.

• Greet guests and engage in conversation with a smile and a helpful demeanor, remembering that the guest always comes first.
• Recommend merchandise based on the guests needs or desires, with a focus to suggest our in-house brands.
• Answer guests questions concerning price and use of merchandise.
• Create client relationships with regular guests.
• If needed, carry product to register counters and carry out products for guests.
• May be asked to run a cash register as business dictates.
• May be asked to receive as business dictates.
• Prepare promotional events as necessary.
• Set up displays or arrange merchandise in floor stacks, on counters or tables, to promote sales.
• Front merchandise and rotate stock for freshness and stock shelves with product.
• Maintain neat and orderly sales floor and back stock.
• Clean shelves, bottles, aisles, and tables; look for product not stocked properly to avoid trips and falls.
• Maintain fresh and readable price tags on all products.
• Provide feedback to management regarding fast or slow-moving product, stock levels, out of stocks, and department needs.
• Prepare sales floor and storage areas for inventory and assist in the inventory process if needed.
• Properly use and maintain computers and RF scanner equipment.
• Seek to continually improve related skills and knowledge to contribute to profitability and productivity.
• Avoid conversations with coworkers when guests are present.
• Limit use of personal cell phone to work related activities only while on the sales floor.
• Carry out directives of management efficiently.
• Fulfill responsibilities with care and attention to detail.
• Practice teamwork and cooperation with others.
• Possess time management skills and be able to prioritize tasks.
• Ability to manage stress in a fast-paced environment.
• Work in accordance with all safety regulations of Specs Family Partners and OSHA.
• Constantly stand, lift, carry, walk, and bend, and reach products routinely weighing 50 pounds or more. Use arms, hands, and fingers to feel, handle, reach, and lift. Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds or more occasionally using proper lifting techniques and tools. Push and/or pull 50-100 pounds or more regularly. Communicate with and understand team members and guests. See product and signage.
