About The Position

The individuals who perform this job provide extraordinary shopping experiences to our guests and stock merchandise. This role involves greeting guests, engaging in conversations, recommending merchandise, answering questions about products, building client relationships, and potentially operating a cash register or receiving stock. The position also requires preparing promotional events, setting up displays, maintaining merchandise presentation, stocking shelves, and ensuring a neat and orderly sales floor and back stock area. Cleaning, maintaining price tags, and providing feedback to management are also key duties. Employees are expected to use and maintain computer and RF scanner equipment, continually improve skills, and adhere to company policies regarding coworker and guest interactions, and cell phone usage. The role requires carrying out management directives efficiently, with care and attention to detail, practicing teamwork, and possessing time management and stress management skills. Adherence to safety regulations is mandatory. Physical requirements include standing, lifting, carrying, walking, bending, and reaching with products routinely weighing 50 pounds or more, and occasionally up to 100 pounds or more. Communication and vision abilities are also essential. Other projects and tasks assigned by management, including cleaning the bathroom, may be required. Attendance and timeliness are required. This is not a remote sales job.

Requirements

• Must be over the age of 21 to work at Spec's.
• Ability to read, comprehend, and write simple instructions or memos.
• Ability to communicate with and understand coworkers and guests.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in both whole numbers and in fractions and decimals.
• Ability to calculate discounts and percentages.

• Must maintain a valid TABC Beverage Sellers Permit.
• In some cases, a valid Food Handlers Permit is required.
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds or more occasionally using proper lifting techniques and tools.
• Push and/or pull 50 to 100 pounds or more regularly.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• Physical attendance based on a schedule made by management which may vary week to week based on the needs of the business.

Responsibilities

• Know and actively demonstrate, daily, our Company Mission Statement and Core Values.
• Maintain uniform standard, as detailed in the Employee Manual, for all worked hours.

• Greet guests and engage in conversation with a smile and a helpful demeanor, remembering that the guest always comes first.
• Recommend merchandise based on the guests needs or desires, with a focus to suggest our in-house brands.
• Answer guests questions concerning price and use of merchandise.
• Create client relationships with regular guests.
• If needed, carry product to register counters and carry out products for guests.
• May be asked to run a cash register as business dictates.
• May be asked to receive as business dictates.
• Prepare promotional events as necessary.
• Set up displays or arrange merchandise in floor stacks, on counters or tables, to promote sales.
• Front merchandise and rotate stock for freshness and stock shelves with product.
• Maintain neat and orderly sales floor and back stock.
• Clean shelves, bottles, aisles, and tables; look for product not stocked properly to avoid trips and falls.
• Maintain fresh and readable price tags on all products.
• Provide feedback to management regarding fast or slow-moving product, stock levels, out of stocks, and department needs.
• Prepare sales floor and storage areas for inventory and assist in the inventory process if needed.
• Properly use and maintain computers and RF scanner equipment.
• Seek to continually improve related skills and knowledge to contribute to profitability and productivity.
• Avoid conversations with coworkers when guests are present.
• Limit use of personal cell phone to work related activities only while on the sales floor.
• Carry out directives of management efficiently.
• Fulfill responsibilities with care and attention to detail.

• Possess time management skills and be able to prioritize tasks.
• Ability to manage stress in a fast-paced environment.
• Work in accordance with all safety regulations of Specs Family Partners and OSHA.
