Windows Systems Engineer
About The Position
The Systems Engineer will provide immediate support to the Infrastructure team on a 3–6+ month engagement. The role primarily focuses on Tier 2 and Tier 3 infrastructure support, ticket resolution, server administration, and ongoing operational support across Windows, some Linux, and virtualized environments. The engineer will work independently to troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure issues and assist with ongoing projects as needed. The position administers Windows Server 2019 and newer, Active Directory services, VMware 8 environments, and RHEL 8.0.3 systems. It also supports a transition toward Hyper-V, responds to OpManager monitoring alerts, and monitors and troubleshoots Veeam backup operations. Approximately 70% of the work is infrastructure support and ticket resolution, with project support also described as approximately 30%. The contract role is fully onsite in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Requirements
- Strong experience with Windows Server administration, including Windows Server 2019 and newer.
- Strong experience with Active Directory administration and troubleshooting.
- Experience with VMware and Hyper-V.
- Linux administration experience, including support for RHEL 8.0.3 systems.
- Experience with infrastructure monitoring and backup operations, including OpManager and Veeam.

Responsibilities
- Resolve Tier 2 and Tier 3 infrastructure incidents and service requests.
- Troubleshoot and restore files as needed.
- Support Active Directory incidents and requests, including user and group administration, Group Policy, DNS and DHCP, Domain Controllers, replication, authentication, and overall AD infrastructure.
- Administer Windows Server 2019 and newer environments, including server builds and decommissioning.
- Respond to monitoring alerts and investigate infrastructure issues.
- Support day-to-day operational activities across the server environment.
- Support VMware 8 environments and the ongoing transition toward Hyper-V.
- Provision and manage virtual machines; troubleshoot host and guest operating system issues.
- Support storage and networking in virtual environments, and manage snapshots, checkpoints, migrations, clustering, and performance issues.
- Perform system administration and troubleshooting for RHEL 8.0.3 systems.
- Respond to and investigate OpManager alerts; assist with monitoring configuration, threshold tuning, and alert-noise reduction.
- Monitor Veeam backup jobs, troubleshoot failed jobs, and help ensure backup operations function properly.
- Assist with infrastructure projects and collaborate with the systems engineering team on operational improvements and environment maintenance.
