About The Position

Iridium is seeking a Windows System Administrator II to join their IT Operations team. This role is responsible for the administration and maintenance of various IT Operations environments, including VMware, Windows, and Linux systems. The position involves supporting end users with account management and troubleshooting issues for both local and remote sites. The administrator will gain experience in Windows, Azure, VMware, UCS, and other systems. The ideal candidate enjoys learning, adapting, and improving processes in a fast-paced environment, delivering high-quality solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, Engineering or related program of study, OR equivalent experience in lieu of degree
  • 2+ years hands-on experience administering and maintaining VMware, Windows and/or Linux
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly present information and ideas to others
  • Confidence and ability to easily build meaningful relationships with your manager and members of your team
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, be self-aware enough to identify and correct mistakes, and not be afraid to ask for help when needed
  • Active in seeking out ways to improve yourself and gain new knowledge, and be enthusiastic in sharing knowledge with others
  • Be on call as needed to support business operations
  • Be able to work a hybrid schedule that includes at least 60% of your time (3 days per week) in office
  • Be able to travel up to 10%
  • Be able to lift 30 lbs
  • Be a US citizen

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant technical certifications (i.e., CompTIA, RHCSA, MSCE, F5 etc.)
  • Previous experience in a datacenter/telecommunications environment
  • Experience in Windows, and VMware virtualized environments
  • Experience in patching using various patching software

Responsibilities

  • Administer, maintain, tune, and troubleshoot development and production operations of Windows environments
  • Work autonomously to support users in setting up accounts and troubleshooting issues as they arise
  • Assist in the development of systems monitoring and automation, utilizing tools and multiple scripting for Windows systems
  • Create and deploy virtual machines with vSphere
  • Rack and cable new servers
  • Play a role in the development and maintenance of IT Documents (diagrams, procedures, etc.)
