About The Position

This position's predominant role is that of a Housekeeper, but the individual will also perform the duties of a Windows and Groundskeeper when needed. The role involves maintaining cleanliness in various areas, including restrooms, back-of-house spaces, and food and beverage outlets. Responsibilities also include floor buffing, carpet shampooing, and general cleaning of surfaces, slot machines, and carpets. The role requires thorough cleaning of windows and ensuring outside areas are free of trash and receptacles are emptied. Adherence to schedules, safety procedures, and company policies is essential. The position also involves reporting maintenance concerns, handling lost and found items, and maintaining confidentiality. Communication with supervisors regarding work performance, attendance, and guest service is crucial. The role requires a commitment to fostering a fun and welcoming environment, providing excellent customer service, and upholding company standards.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Proficient in English verbal and written with the ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers.
  • Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Flexible to work various shifts, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to continuously push/pull or lift up to 5 pounds and frequently bends, reaches above shoulder and push/pull or lift up to 6 -25 pounds.
  • Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and talk or hear, on rare occasions climb, stoop, kneel or crawl and work in difficult positions.
  • Frequently standing or walking with rare sitting.
  • The employee is frequently exposed to high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, extreme cold/heat, risk of electrical shock and vibration while occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and outside weather conditions.
  • Ascend and descend stairs/ ladders, maintain equilibrium, and work from a standing position and/or walking motion for an extended period.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth and distance perception, to perceive sizes, shapes, temperatures, textures, or odors and ability to adjust focus.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a non-gaming license from the Indiana Gaming Commission, the Indiana Horse Racing Commission, and a valid Indiana Driver’s license.
  • Will require access to all general and back-of-house areas of the Racing and Gaming facilities.
  • Ability to work in a smoke-filled environment and noise level in the working environment is usually loud.

Responsibilities

  • Report to work fit and ready to work on time daily as scheduled.
  • Produce high quality of cleanliness in assigned work area.
  • Sanitize and clean public and employee restrooms, back of the house areas and food and beverage outlets.
  • According to periodic maintenance schedule, buffs floors, shampoos, and extract carpets.
  • Vacuuming, mopping, sweeping, dusting, cleaning of wood, glass, pictures, doors, tables, chairs, slot machines and carpets.
  • Clean restrooms, vacuum assigned areas, clean deli tables as needed, remove trash, clean sled chairs, clean all areas around slot machines, clean ash trays and urns.
  • Uses equipment and supplies properly.
  • Clean and maintain equipment.
  • Report maintenance concerns to supervisor.
  • Thoroughly clean windows as directed by Supervisor/Manager.
  • Ensure that outside areas are free from trash, and all outside ash urns and receptacles are empty.
  • Follow and adhere to High Dust schedule set.
  • Follows all rules and regulations according to pre-set standards.
  • Follows all safety and lost and found procedures and guidelines for energy conservation.
  • Follows established key and chemical procedures.
  • Complete any special projects assigned, even if not part of the regular job description, particularly if it affects safety of any individual and/or guest service.
  • Reports to manager, supervisor, and Security Officer any incidents involving illness or injury to self or others, and any accidents or onset of illness incidents witnessed involving guests or other team members.
  • Responsible to maintain confidentiality of all matter regarding guest, team members and the business operations to cooperate with Company officials during an investigation.
  • Follows proper procedures for lost and found of personal items, found money or gaming tokens. (Contact Security Officer).
  • Report any unusual or suspicious activities to supervisor.
  • Communicates with coordinator, supervisor, or Department Head regarding any and all needs affecting work performance, completion of duties, attendance and guest service.
  • Read, understand, and practice all policies and procedures as outlined in the Team Member Handbook.
  • Asks for assistance if unable to read or understand any items contained in the handbook.
  • Takes appropriate action to report any policy violations or problems as outline the handbook, to the supervisor/manager.
  • As directed, properly uses time keeping equipment and systems to record all time worked.
  • Adheres to posted schedule and as adjusted by the manager, relating to work hours, breaks, and duty schedule or station/duty assignments.
  • Adhere to all department and company policies and procedures.
  • Make suggestions to appropriate supervisor/manager regarding any suggestions for improving guest service, department, or job efficiency.
  • Reports to Manager any items requiring maintenance or repair.
  • Pays particular attention to safety related matters and reports such items immediately.
  • If dangerous, take precautions to prevent injury until help arrives to respond to the situation. (Example: An open, raised carpet seam in a busy walkway in which someone might catch his/her foot and fall)
