About The Position

This position's predominant role is that of a Housekeeper, but the individual will also perform the duties of a Windows and Groundskeeper when needed. The employee will not work in both capacities during the same shift. Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Proficient in English verbal and written with the ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Flexible to work various shifts, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to continuously push/pull or lift up to 5 pounds and frequently bends, reaches above shoulder and push/pull or lift up to 6 -25 pounds.
  • Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and talk or hear, on rare occasions climb, stoop, kneel or crawl and work in difficult positions. Frequently standing or walking with rare sitting.
  • Ascend and descend stairs/ladders, maintain equilibrium, and work from a standing position and/or walking motion for an extended period.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth and distance perception, to perceive sizes, shapes, temperatures, textures, or odors and ability to adjust focus.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a non-gaming license from the Indiana Gaming Commission, the Indiana Horse Racing Commission, and a valid Indiana Driver’s license.
  • Will require access to all general and back-of-house areas of the Racing and Gaming facilities.
  • Ability to work in a smoke-filled environment and noise level in the working environment is usually loud.

Responsibilities

  • Report to work fit and ready to work on time daily as scheduled, checking the schedule daily for any changes necessary to accommodate unplanned business conditions.
  • Produce a high quality of cleanliness in the assigned work area.
  • Sanitize and clean public and employee restrooms, back-of-house areas, and food and beverage outlets.
  • Buff floors, shampoo, and extract carpets according to the periodic maintenance schedule.
  • Perform vacuuming, mopping, sweeping, dusting, and cleaning of wood, glass, pictures, doors, tables, chairs, slot machines, and carpets.
  • Clean restrooms, vacuum assigned areas, clean deli tables as needed, remove trash, clean sled chairs, clean all areas around slot machines, and clean ash trays and urns.
  • Use equipment and supplies properly.
  • Clean and maintain equipment.
  • Report maintenance concerns to the supervisor.
  • Thoroughly clean windows as directed by the Supervisor/Manager.
  • Ensure that outside areas are free from trash, and all outside ash urns and receptacles are empty.
  • Follow and adhere to the High Dust schedule.
  • Follow all rules and regulations according to pre-set standards.
  • Follow all safety and lost and found procedures and guidelines for energy conservation.
  • Follow established key and chemical procedures.
  • Complete any special projects assigned, even if not part of the regular job description, particularly if it affects the safety of any individual and/or guest service.
  • Report to manager, supervisor, and Security Officer any incidents involving illness or injury to self or others, and any accidents or onset of illness incidents witnessed involving guests or other team members.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all matters regarding guests, team members, and business operations.
  • Cooperate with Company officials during an investigation.
  • Follow proper procedures for lost and found of personal items, found money, or gaming tokens by contacting the Security Officer.
  • Report any unusual or suspicious activities to the supervisor.
  • Communicate with coordinator, supervisor, or Department Head regarding any and all needs affecting work performance, completion of duties, attendance, and guest service.
  • Read, understand, and practice all policies and procedures as outlined in the Team Member Handbook, asking for assistance if unable to read or understand any items. Take appropriate action to report any policy violations or problems to the supervisor/manager.
  • Properly use timekeeping equipment and systems to record all time worked as directed. Adhere to the posted schedule and any adjustments made by the manager, relating to work hours, breaks, and duty schedule or station/duty assignments.
  • Adhere to all department and company policies and procedures.
  • Make suggestions to the appropriate supervisor/manager regarding improvements for guest service, department, or job efficiency.
  • Report to Manager any items requiring maintenance or repair, paying particular attention to safety-related matters and reporting such items immediately. Take precautions to prevent injury until help arrives if a situation is dangerous.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
