About The Position

Maintain physical structures, grounds and equipment related to facilities operations in a like new condition utilizing proper tools and trade practices. This role is responsible for reporting to work fit and ready to work on time daily as scheduled, checking the schedule daily for changes, and communicating with Foreman, Supervisor, and Department Director regarding work performance, assigned tasks, attendance, and guest service. The position requires proper use of timekeeping equipment, adherence to schedules and policies, and reporting any policy violations or problems to management. Suggestions for improving guest service and department efficiency are encouraged. The role involves reporting maintenance or repair needs, with immediate attention to safety-related matters and taking precautions to prevent injury. Incident reporting for illness, injury, or accidents is mandatory. Confidentiality of guest, team member, and business operations is essential, as is cooperation with company officials during investigations. Proper procedures for lost and found items must be followed. The role may involve assisting trade positions, responding to radio requests, and performing tasks requiring minimal tool use, such as lamp changes or hot/cold calls. The ability to communicate clearly, plan and organize work, travel to various locations, express ideas, perform basic math calculations, read material, and hear inquiries is necessary. Minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, HVAC repairs, and Preventive Maintenance are key duties, along with assisting Window & Groundskeeper as required. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Proficient in English verbal and written
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to push/pull or lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms for specific objects at short distances in local working area, and talk or hear, to climb or balance, stand, sit, walk, and to stoop, kneel, crawl or crouch.
  • Ascend and descend stairs/ ladders, maintain equilibrium, and work from a standing position and/or walking motion for an extended period
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth and distance perception, to perceive sizes, shapes, temperatures, textures, or odors and ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to work on mechanics of totalizator machines and have the ability to scan facility to monitor activity required.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a non-gaming license from the Indiana Gaming Commission, Indiana Horse Racing Commission, and valid Indiana Driver’s License.
  • Will require access to all general and secure/sensitive areas of the gaming facility and back-of-house areas of the Racing and Gaming facilities.
  • Ability to work in a smoking environment and noise level in the working environment is usually moderate.

Responsibilities

  • Report to work fit and ready to work on time daily as scheduled.
  • Check schedule daily to learn of any changes necessary to accommodate unplanned business conditions.
  • Communicate with Foreman, Supervisor and Department Director any issues relating to work performance, completion of assigned tasks, attendance and service of those internal and external guests requesting work of this department.
  • Properly use time keeping equipment and systems to record all time worked.
  • Adhere to posted schedule and as adjusted by the manager, relating to work hours, breaks, and duty schedule or station/duty assignments.
  • Read, understand and practice all policies and procedures as outlined in the Team Member Handbook.
  • Ask for assistance if unable to read or understand any items contained in the handbook.
  • Take appropriate action to report any policy violations or problems as outlined the handbook, to the supervisor or manager.
  • Make suggestions to appropriate supervisor/manager regarding any suggestions for improving guest service, department or job efficiency.
  • Report to Supervisor any items requiring maintenance or repair.
  • Pay particular attention to safety related matters and report such items immediately.
  • If dangerous, take precautions to prevent injury by securing affected area.
  • Report to manager, supervisor and Security Officer any incidents involving illness or injury to self or others, and any accidents or onset of illness incidents witnessed involving guests or other team members.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all matter regarding guest, team members and the business operations.
  • Cooperate with Company officials during an investigation and to maintain confidentiality.
  • Follow proper procedures for lost and found of personal items, found money or gaming tokens.
  • Perform any related job duties, as requested, even if not parts of the regular job description, particularly if it affects safety of any individual and/or guest service.
  • Assist trade positions as needed.
  • Initial responder to radio requests.
  • Perform tasks requiring minimal tools use i.e. lamp changes, hot/cold calls.
  • Perform minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, HVAC repairs and Preventive Maintenance.
  • Assist Window & Groundskeeper as required.
