Window & Doors Estimator
About The Position
The Windows & Doors Specialist is responsible for supporting the sales, ordering, estimating, coordination, and delivery of residential and commercial window and door products. This position serves as the technical resource for all window and door related products and works closely with Sales, Purchasing, Operations, Vendors, and Customers to ensure accurate quoting, ordering, product configuration, and on-time delivery. This role requires strong product knowledge of windows, interior/exterior doors, hardware, millwork components, and related building materials, as well as the ability to interpret plans, specifications, and cut sheets to ensure orders are complete and accurate.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2–3 years’ experience in building materials, millwork, windows/doors, or related construction field preferred
- Experience with take-offs, estimating, or order entry in a lumberyard or supply environment strongly preferred
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction documents
- Working knowledge of window and door components, measurements, and configurations
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in order entry and product selection
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with ERP systems such as DMSI/Falcon preferred
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Responsibilities
- Review architectural plans, elevations, and specifications to prepare accurate window and door take-offs and estimates
- Generate detailed quotes based on customer requirements, builder specifications, and project timelines
- Configure and enter orders into internal systems (e.g. DMSI/Falcon or similar ERP platforms)
- Prepare cut sheets, shop drawings, and product submittals as required
- Coordinate with Inside Sales, Outside Sales, and Purchasing to ensure accurate product selection and pricing
- Communicate directly with vendors regarding lead times, availability, custom configurations, and order status
- Monitor open orders to ensure timely delivery and proactively resolve delays or discrepancies
- Assist in resolving jobsite issues related to incorrect or damaged products
- Provide technical support and product recommendations to Sales staff and customers
- Maintain working knowledge of vendor product lines including but not limited to: Exterior Doors Interior Doors Vinyl / Aluminum / Wood Windows Hardware and related components
- Ensure all orders comply with applicable building codes, energy requirements, and customer specifications
- Track special orders and coordinate logistics with Dispatch and Warehouse teams
- Participate in vendor trainings to remain current on product offerings and installation requirements
- Assist with inventory coordination for stock windows and doors as needed
