About The Position

As a Field Service Technician (Boston, MA), you will be responsible for performing and documenting field service of VPI window and door products. This role requires technical expertise in diagnosing and repairing product failures, damages, or errors in workmanship. You will conduct in-field service repairs, evaluations, and inspections, maintaining accurate records and preparing detailed reports with photos and problem statements. The position involves attending water tests, diagnosing and fixing issues, and managing your schedule efficiently to arrive on-site promptly with necessary tools and materials. A professional demeanor is expected when interacting with customers and colleagues. Travel is an essential requirement, and you must be prepared to travel by plane or car. You will also demonstrate company values by fostering a respectful and inclusive work environment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • 2-5 years of experience in either the vinyl window and door industry or the manufacturing industry.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools such as drills, saws, levels, and tape measures.
  • Knowledge of repair methods for windows, doors, glass and glazing (or a background in window/door installation).
  • Ability to lift 50-75 lbs., climb, lift, pull, and perform tasks on ladders and scaffolding.
  • Multitasking capabilities with professionalism.
  • Experience using general office equipment (laptop, phone, iPad), including Office 365.
  • Application of special repair policies in practical situations.
  • Dependable, self-motivated, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong customer service, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Must be comfortable working at heights above 50 feet when necessary.
  • Mobile Elevated Work Platform (MEWP) certification.

Responsibilities

  • Follow established safety rules and adhere to safety protocols and guidelines.
  • Actively participate in the company’s Accident Prevention Program.
  • Accurately identify and diagnose product failure, damages, or errors in workmanship.
  • Perform in-field service repairs, evaluations, and inspections according to specified processes.
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs, evaluations, and inspections.
  • Prepare detailed reports including photos, problem statements, and product identification.
  • Submit expense reports in a timely manner (Bi-weekly).
  • Attend water tests, inspect pre-test, document results, diagnose issues, and fix identified problems.
  • Manage your schedule to arrive on-site promptly for scheduled work.
  • Ensure you have the necessary tools and materials to perform tasks efficiently.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor when interacting with customers and colleagues.
  • Travel is an essential requirement for this position, and the employee must be prepared to travel by plane or car.
