About The Position

We are seeking a skilled, quality-driven Door & Window Technician to join our team. Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will serve as a primary technical resource in the field, inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, and adjusting door and window assemblies for professional building contractors and homeowners. As a key representative of Harbin Lumber, you will embody our Mission Statement and Values by building positive working relationships with clients, Outside Sales, Inside Sales staff, and department heads.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in door & window service, residential remodeling, framing, or general construction.
  • Active driver's license with a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) required.
  • Willingness to operate company vehicles equipped with safety monitoring systems (GPS and safety cameras).
  • Solid math and reading skills; ability to follow detailed technical instructions, complete service documentation, and maintain organized job records.
  • Professional, neat appearance with strong communication skills to interact effectively with contractors, homeowners, and internal managers.
  • Comfort working in both indoor and outdoor job site environments in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to occasionally perform heavy lifting (up to 100 lbs) as well as climb, balance, and crawl during inspections and installs.

Responsibilities

  • Promptly respond to customer inquiries; schedule and execute field service calls to repair operating components, replace sashes, swap glass on doors/windows (installed and uninstalled), fix balance operating systems, and repair screens.
  • Develop specialized knowledge in Harbin Lumber’s full door and window product lines, installation guidelines, and repair methods. Maintain product information materials for customer review on job sites.
  • Communicate continuously with sales staff, managers, and location personnel to resolve post-installation issues and streamline job completion.
  • Follow proper field procedures, track tool/equipment maintenance, monitor inventory needs with department heads, and assist in training junior technicians to perform repairs safely and correctly.
  • Strictly adhere to company safety policies and OSHA standards. Maintain a clean, orderly work area and report hazards immediately to the General Manager.
