About The Position

Valdese Weavers is a 100% employee-owned (ESOP) company with over 100 years of history, recognized as one of the world's largest woven textile mills. The company specializes in designing and manufacturing residential and contract-grade fabrics for a diverse clientele including furniture manufacturers, fabric distributors, and major retailers. This role is for the 2nd shift.

Requirements

  • Good communication skills with the ability to work well with others.
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • Computer knowledge is required.
  • Must not be restricted from operating a motorized vehicle.
  • Knowledge of textile manufacturing process.
  • Basic reading, writing, and math skills.
  • Must be able to discern colors and pass a color blindness test.

Nice To Haves

  • Have a good working knowledge of SAP.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and control attendance headcount of the assigned shift to ensure attainment of company goals.
  • Stage workflow to achieve production and efficiency goals.
  • Maintain plant records and report to management, personnel, and payroll as required.
  • Operate and maintain Winding machines, including Attendant responsibilities.
  • Assist and direct the Yarn Attendant in delivering yarn to proper machines and perform their duties in case of absence.
  • Perform point projects within the department to help sustain processes.
  • Ensure materials are properly staged according to date and help manage Rush List priorities.
  • Work closely with other Leads and Managers to meet company and plant goals.
  • Maintain personal attendance practices to meet established company goals (must stay below 5 points).
  • Maintain personal work habits that meet the demands and stresses of the job.
  • Assure that associates are trained to correctly perform their job functions and work closely with the Circa Training Coordinator to capture proper documentation.
  • Continually audit safety effectiveness within the department.
  • Actively participate in safety meetings and use and train personnel on the Stop Card Program.
  • Enforce all safety rules.
  • Ensure associates use required hearing protection in high noise areas and safety belts/harnesses when using P.I.T. equipment.
  • Follow the 5 S Standards as described in the associate handbook.
